Faulty Hue Device + Amazon Returns

Hi, I recently bought a Hue starter kit which included a hub, 3 white globes and a "Hue Smart Button" for about $50. I received it and while the lights are working as expected, I cannot get the button to work. It seems to be DOA. I've changed the battery, reset it. The lights never come on when pressing/holding it etc.

Now $50 is a good price for all this and I don't want to return it for a refund, I want a replacement of either the entire kit or a replacement of the button only. When going through the process on Amazon I am only given the option of replacement with some crap other products or a refund.

I've never had to return anything with Amazon before. Is it possible to just get the button replaced? Is there a way to talk to an actual human about the problem and get a resolution?

    What brand is it? You might be able to get replacement parts from the manufacturer.

    You can contact Amazon chat and there's a chance they'll tell you to keep it and still refund you, depends on how many other returns/refunds you've previous initiated and the CS.

    It's Hue. I found the customer service chat and they are going to send me a replacement :)

      I can't for the LIFX of me think of how to add in any other brands though.

    They should be replacing it with the same item, not a different one. I'd jump on the chat and gently remind them that ACL gives you the choice of refund or replacement if they're not going to repair it. Replacement should be like for like, not something different.

    I know I might be stating the obvious, but did you set it up as an "accessory" in the app?

      I use home assistant with a USB ZigBee device. The button would not light up at all, when being reset etc.

        aah, that I can't help you with. I only use the Hue hardware.
