Merida Big Nine 15 Mountain Bike Blue/Black $438 ($0 C&C / in-Store, Club Membership Required in-Store) @ 99 Bikes

540

I've been searching for an affordable yet well-known brand of mountain bike for my 14-year-old son, and by luck, stumbled upon this offer earlier today.
IMO, It's a pretty solid deal considering what you receive unless you're okay with riding a department store bike.

  • Looks like stock in QLD only, at least that's the closest place with stock outside of SA.

  • +2

It's highly discounted because there is very little stock. Looks like only Kew store has some. VIC stores seem to be able to special order but not other states.
Not available for delivery to a Sydney postcode
Their system doesn't seem accurate. Wasnt showing fyshwick before and now does and QLD showed OOS when I checked but previous comment said qld had stock
Seem to only have 1 medium, 1 XL, 2 large available when I checked just before.

  • Great deal for an entry hardtail mountain bike with hydraulic brakes.

It’s a great bike at that price of you can get one

  • For me it only shows Fyshwick ACT with stock

  • @AlextheMeertkat Hey OP. Sorry it's off topic but possibly you know a bit about bikes. Any clear options that seem to be this quality/price for my 7 year old son?

Just get a secondhand 20" from marketplace for $50-$100 and upgrade the shifter from tourney to a click shifter. Your son will outgrow that bike in no time and then you're looking at the same process for the 24" bike (but for less $$ than the 20" as there's no market for them for some reason), together with upgrading the shifters. Once he gets to adult XS bikes then I'd invest the $1k you've saved into a good entry level + adult bike, if he is still into the hobby.

I’ve had good success with Byk bikes for kids whilst younger eg Byk e540

      • Thank you, I'll take a closer squizz. Appreciate. 🙂

  • OOS in WA

  • Sensible price for a pushbike.

      • Yes, I still hear people using this word. I use it mainly to distinguish from an e-bike.

    Merda means 'shit' in Italian

    • +10

      Great, this is merida

      • So it means 'Shiite' in Italian?

  • 99 problems and a bike ain't one

  • Brakes on those are not great, otherwise good price

    • +2

Why would you say that? I mean tourney isn't the best but all Shimano hydraulic disc set ups do they job extremely well.

      • they are not shimano, brand is "power"
