Depend on the roof size, some smaller houses only have roof size to fit a 6.6kw system

i have a 6.6kw system in ballarat, victoria. i make money during the summer/spring/autumn months, winter i have to pay. But overall i'm winning.

Have a 3kw system and find that with our daily consumption, which is about 5kwh, that with the bill savings this helps us break even with the loan repayments. Pairing a small system like this with a battery would be a good idea as you'd not use (as much) grid power outside daylight hours and this save even more on your bills - but not get a lot in the way of tariffs. Tariffs are so pitiful these days is not worth buying a big system

    • “Enough” is different for everyone I just spoke with someone who has a 3kw system and still exports quite a bit.

Ideally, fill your roof with panels. (Maybe skip south, there’s some benefit but not as great.)

a 6kw system will make a massive difference in most people’s bills if you can shift some power use to peak sun.

Perfection is the enemy of good - this system is fine.

Exactly! I have friends who leave windows open and aircon on in summer. They'll leave the house like that and go into town and not blink an eye… in my house we're pretty conscious of energy use (mainly because of cost), and 6.6kw is more than enough for a family of three. Even 4 imo

How big is your house?? I live in a 3 bed 2 bath and 6.6kW is enough that we have never had a power bill..

  • Any love for WA?

I got mine installed from SL Green Energy, a local owner operated business a year ago.
      http://www.slgreenenergy.com.au/contact-us/

The initial quote might be expensive but they will match the quote from a reputed supplier.

In business for 10 years, High quality work and good after sales service. Installation done by the owner himself; not by a third party.

  • OzBargainers in VIC - is this a good deal?

  • How does this go in beach side areas, eg salt in the air?

    • I read it online it says the panels are salt corrosion-resistant. Panels have to meet a standard IEC 61701 to be suitable for installation near the ocean.

  • Valid for installations in Melbourne Metro within 120 km.

    Should put "Metro" in title

    • Hey Megan!

Installation services are available in certain non-metro regions, subject to an additional cost. If you are located outside the metropolitan area, please inquire about the specific charges associated with installations in your region

  • How much for 10kw ? Single story house

    • In Metro Melbourne, a 10kW solar system featuring 23 x Canadian 440w Panels and a Goodwe single-phase inverter is priced at $4,250 upfront. This cost is after the Solar Vic Rebate of $1,400 and the Solar Vic Loan of $1,400. SolarVic loan is optional and is to be paid at $29.17 per month.

Installers left their rubbish and food scraps behind.
Refused come pick up for months; ignored my emails.
Used a lot of conduit rather than in the walls.

We have investigated this matter thoroughly, and as a result, the installer in question has been terminated from our team. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with the installers.

  • Do Marshall Solar do their own installs, or is the install done by a third party?

    • We utilise both in-house and Subcontractors for the installation. Regardless of the installation team, your warranty and ongoing support remain with Marshall Energy
