Productivity desktop set up that can last for many years

What OzBargain fav or recommendation for a budget desktop build for using lasted CPU (i7 13/14th gen) and GPU for a non gamer? will pre-built AMD comes out cheaper generally?

Occasional Roblox or GTA or CS. That's about it.

There seem to be lots of nice acer laptop deals but thought I could be cheaper buying a similar spec desktop instead.

I've been using my laptop for 5+ years. everything was fine until recently trying to backup my 512gb iPhone through USB2 is super painful, it's an overnight process! With laptop its lack of option to upgrade to USB 3.2. mobility is nice to have, but since the laptop battery is dead, I'm using it with a power cable much like deakrop anyway.

  • backup my 512gb iphone through usb2

This is likely a limitation of the iPhone. IIRC, only 15 pro supports USB 3

  • +2

Techfast sells a Ryzen 5 5600G system for $799 on their website, but with careful selection of parts and building it yourself it is possible to build one (with superior components) for less than $600.

Can always throw in a used graphics card in the system if you decide to get serious about gaming, but otherwise the built in vega graphics should handle Roblox and CS without much issue.

  • Wait… what laptop in the last 20 years does not have USB 3.0??????

  • All iPhones with exception of 15pro are USB 2 speeds (480mbps). If you want to backup photos I recommend Photosync which can automatically transfers photos to your PC (with use of companion app)

    • oh didn't know that. its pain in the a. 512gb takes a whole night and thats not guaranteed to be completing correctly without issue. but generally it gives me the realisation to choose a desktop instead with its flexibility and upgradability.
