[NSW, VIC, TAS] 4x Gold Class Movie eVouchers $100, 4x Standard Movie eVouchers $50 @ Village Cinemas (12 Month Expiry)

1160

Pretty much the cheapest way to get gold class tickets. Some times they go down to $20, but they usually have heavy restrictions. Only real restrictions on these is that you can't use them within 24hrs of purchase so you need to plan ahead.

Same deal as last year.

Print your tickets using a printer which prints sharp dark lines and present as per the instructions at the relevant theme park or attraction. The link to your ticket(s) will remain active for 60 days only.

These vouchers expire 12 months from date of purchase.

    No village cinema in WA

    • +1

Only Vic and Tas as far as I know. Maybe Eventcinema has a similar deal

    • If you build it, they will come

  • +11

Realised last week I still had five left from last December’s purchase. Using four in a couple of days. Slim pickings for worthwhile movies at the moment! 🥴

Also - you’ll have ~$3 booking fee per ticket if you redeem online.

    • +35

So cruel to require $3 payment for redeeming prepaid vouchers online!!

      • +29

Cruel doesn't seem fitting. Greedy sounds about right.

        • and that's why no one thinks twice about piracy

      • +2

Village pride themselves on these practices. The push every corporate limit they can. And we keep lining up.

But sometimes I almost understand it. Like sitting in a gold class cinema last week, half full (only limited seating anyway), I paid $20 for the ticket… And I'm wondering how they ever make a dollar.

        • They're all the same Hoyts does it as well

          • @4foxache: Definitely. I get shitty at Village, then travel to a Hoyts to realise they aren't much/any better. And none near me, anyway.

On a related note, Village say they give 10 points per dollar on qualifying food/beverage/tickets etc. I can't find any other information about points per dollar. But when I track my transaction history (on their site) every transaction is hugely different. They give 10:$1 for massively overpriced food. But for $3/ticket transaction fees on these vouchers, they give like 85:$1. Their system is cooked, but I'm getting a HEAP of points, so stuff 'em.

            • +1

@Ulysses31: Watch out with the points: I used to collect them (had 96,669) until one day they had all gone and replaced with "12 standard tickets" with 3 months until expiry.

              Use them quickly

              • +1

@lachhelix: Thanks. I finally read their fine print today.

8.3.2 Expired Points will be transitioned into specific movie tickets or food & beverage items to be used within two (2) months of the Points expiring.

8.3.3 The expiry and transition of Points over 12 months old will be processed and issued in automated quarterly batches.

Their T&C's lie, anyway. I've EASILY clocked 10,000 points in 12mths, so I qualify as "premiere". But I spent points as I went. They didn't promote me until I banked 10,000 without using.

                • @Ulysses31: That's exactly what annoyed me - I knew the t&cs but it looked like they never actually enforced them…. Until they did 😂

                  • @lachhelix: But if they processed that many in one hit, it's another example how they do whatever they please. Why is common-sense customer service actually AVOIDED by these companies? If they can automate so much, automate a reminder. He'll, even upsell while you're doing it.

        • They make money from the popcorn you buy at $20 a pop

          • @Kobe24: Of course, huge markups. But when I look at the cost of everything involved in putting a movie on for a few people, they would have a ton of sessions losing money.

    • +9

You could go aquaman 2. I've heard amber heard's performance there is significantly better then her performance in the trial.

    • Use the online booking tool to see if it's heavily booked. Only proceed with the booking if there aren't too many seats available.

  • Am I imagining or did they use to give free popcorn and drinks for gold class tickets?

    • +1

Thats Hoyts. Unsure if they still do it.

    • +1

Imagining it. Hoyts used to do it in La Premier, which I preferred over village for this reason, but since the revamp Chadstone is no longer self serve and you have to ask for the small popcorn and drink.

However, what you can do with village is acrue points, and use those to get a free popcorn/drink. I forget the ratio but it's not too bad, something like 5 movies = free popcorn/drink.

  • Can anyone with experience please give a summary of what this gold tix experience is like? Just so I can decide if worth it. TIA.

    • +4

Large reclining leather lounge chairs with food and drink service throughout the movie. The Gold class theatres have their own waiting area where you can get a drink before the movie.

Theatres have about 20 seats in them.

    • +6

It is worth it in my experience, just pick the middle back chairs not left/right side. Chairs are amazing, only normally 20 people per movie at crown in Melbourne, wouldn't pay 50$ or 40$ but for 25$ 100% i would

    • Now that we don't watch movies at the theatres that often, we definitely prefer the Gold Class exclusively. It's a lot more relaxed, very comfortable, almost feels like a private viewing, can order drinks and food to be delivered at defined intervals. Another huge plus is no huge groups of teenagers/kids causing a ruckus.

For $100 for 4, its more than worth giving it a crack. We typically pay $40 per ticket and make that part of the date night (babysitters are so much more expensive that this is a pittance in comparison :( )

I was thinking Hoyts Lux/Event Gold Class.. no idea about Village Cinemas as I'm in NSW and don't live in the boonies (Albury)

  • Does the standard bundle ($50 for 4) work for open air cinemas e.g. coburg

  • Do you need to use the 4 tickets at once?

    • +1

      I wouldn't think so
Should work the same as other movie vouchers where you have to input or use individually when you book with separate voucher numbers

    • +2

No. It's a a PDF of 4 separate tickets (one per A4 page). So you can share the tickets or use the tickets as you please.

  • Is the screen/speakers in Gold Class actually decent like Vmax or is it just like the standard theatres

    • +1

It's not epic. They're going more for "intimate", and fancy food, table service.

Considering I have a solid home theatre setup, it's questionable what the point is for me. But I get free tickets occasionally.

    • +1

Screen is usually smaller than standard cinema, definitely nothing on Vmax etc

      • +3

Agreed. I should've detailed that better.

Based on how area affects size so much, I'd confidently say GC screens are easily smaller than 1/2… possibly 1/3 standard size. Can't imagine compared to VMAX. 1/8??

        Fountain Gate, as an example
        Gold Class Seating
        Standard Seating
        VMAX Seating

        • Totally agree with that - I've never had much enjoyment at the FG village either! Always have some kind of sound issue, it's extra annoying.
Best experience I had was years ago at Crown GC, pain to get to though haha

          • +1

@lachhelix: Went to Karingal GC a few weeks back, and the projection image glitched a few times. Very surprised.
But I went to see Bladerunner with live orchestra at The Arts Centre a few months back, and their screen glitched hard, repeatedly… I honestly thought their speakers were terrible, and that was a lot more $$. They KNOW their getting patrons who expect better.

            • +1

@Ulysses31: Karingal used to be my go to (back when they had movies I was interested in) and have definitely seen that
I agree - ever since getting a proper home theatre setup, I feel like I get a considerably better experience at home!

      • +1

Thats what I loved about La Premier at Chadstone. You were in the same cinema as the plebs which means they could justify a larger screen, but you were seated in an upper deck so you could lord above everyone. It was awesome.

        • Oh what!? This sounds fun, I'll have to check it out

          • +1

@lachhelix: It was very cool. They tore it down a few years ago, and replaced it with gold class style seating in a small cinema. At least, for the showing I went to. Maybe they kept it for some of other cinemas.

  • +2

No free drinks and popcorn so Hoyts lux win for me

I get it for $28 year round with foxtel rewards.

  • -6

I got the gold class experience from my date in high school at a movie. We were the only ones in the theatre, ah good times.

    • +2

      Probably not.

If you read the link you provided, it says this towards the top of the page:

Gift cards and vouchers are not covered by the three-year period if they:

      • are sold for a good or service at a genuine discount

The cost for one Gold Class eVoucher is $47, so the fact that you can buy four through this deal for $100 means it is genuine discount of $88 when compared with buying four separate Gold Class eVouchers.

      • Yeah, they went that path years ago. Push people into their system, and keep the prices fair. Any Joe off the street gets SCREWED.

  • +1

    NSW: Albury (only?)

    • Yeah that's a long drive to make use of these tickets…

  • They haven't even bothered to update their promo banner.

    • "Offer available Monday 26 to Saturday 31 December 2022"
  • Hard to believe this is a deal.. how on earth do these things cost more than$25 normally?

    • Same concept as first class plane tickets, you see the same movie with the same plebs, but your seat is a bit more comfy. People pay to feel better about themselves. I can barely justify the $15 let alone $50 haha

(Used to work for Event Cinemas and quite often these gold class cinemas sell out at full freight prices! Wild!)

      • +1

Hmm…the irony of judging others, by being judgey yourself. Open ya mind, bro.
It makes some people feel they're getting a special treat, like an anniversary date etc. So it goes well as a gift, instead of a big standard ticket.
Some will pay just to get away from kids being loud & noisey the whole time. Or even the many who aren't comfortable being jammed in side-by-side with a heap of smelly strangers. There can be a lot of reasons.

  • This promotional voucher is valid for one Vrewards Member Gold Class movie session admission

Does this mean you have to use all 4 at the same time?

  • This would bebetter if they had the legal minimum 3 year expiry oppose to a12 months

  • -2

Unfortunately the chances of there even being 4 movies in a year worth going to watch is slim to none.

  • we used up maybe half of the discounted gold tix i bought last time they were offered. its good and all but we end up paying more for drinks/snacks either in the lounge or in the cinema itself.

last year, we were in malaysia and my golly wow! their mid tier offering is like our gold class here. they had bean bags, recliners, bean bags on recliners, plushies, almost fully flat seats (if you can still call them that) ala beach beds, and some of their cinemas had 4k laser, some are imax and maybe a handful regular projections. we were spoilt rotten in other countries. so much so that when i came back, gold class here felt like meh. im jaded. lol cinema-jaded.

so now, i dont enjoy going to the cinema anymore. we would rather rent a movie in google play/amazon prime and order take away and eat in the comfort of our couch.

  • At this price, they are not too bad once in a while, but the smaller screen and not so great sound making me think I will stick to VMax/Hoyts Xtremescreen for a better cinematic experience

  • +4

Before I opened the deal on my mobile, the description cut off at "Only real restrictions on these is that you can't use them", which I found funny

  • Anyone had issues receiving the email with the tickets? I got them sent to my partner's email for Xmas but she hasn't received them. I've been charged on my card so guys I'll need to contact them and try to get them to resend, or dispute the charge on my card

    • No issues with the email, but why didn't you download the PDF tickets from the confirmation page when you bought them ? You don't need the email then…

      • Yeah wish i had but the page closed before i had a chance. Oh well, will need to contact them and see what can be done, assume they should be serialised so they should be able to resend the email

        • Good luck man 🤞
