I've had this model for about a year (bought from Amazon). Has been a fantastic cooker!

    For reference:

    "Low flame" ~= 400W

    "Medium flame" ~=1000W

    "High flame" ~=1600W

Does this one buzz when not cooking?
Recently returned one that emitted a pre-start buzz, was annoying

do these still do the annoying turn on for 1 second and then off for 10 seconds as "low" flame? it was really annoying haha

Yes, they cycle between on and off states - I believe that's how most induction setups work(?).

      • yep, only the inbuilt ones don't cycle at low temperatures. was hoping to find a good quality portable one for that

I have no idea how people can cook on these: it boils, it doesn't, it boils, it doesn't; it sizzles, it doesn't, it sizzles, it doesn't…

      • Downvotes suggest it's not an issue to some.

Well, sure I can boil a pot of water on it, but I can't cook like that. These devices usually can't sustain continous power to simmer. You experience this less often on a proper induction stove.

  • How's the fan sound level?

    • +1

Noticeable, but not terrible. Probably in line with your average range hood fan on a low setting.

Why do induction cooker makers make it so hard to find the magnet size. These are useless if they aren't sized adequately for your cookware.

    • the magnet size

      It's a coil, or just a hob/"burner".

There's magnetic field, but no magnets inside.

Also the size may not matter as much as in gas or electric appliances - there will be no exposed hot parts or loss of heat, if it's the concern.

      • The size is critical actually otherwise your pans will warp and heat up unevenly.

  • Do they work for cast iron?

    • Yes.
