It costs about the same to get a new digital camera made for kids from China as it does to buy an old real digital camera at a garage sale or online.

Which is better, and does it depend on age?
Under 5 vs Under 10 vs Under 15?

Depends on the use case.

If they're wanting to get into photography eventually, get them an old digital camera.

"Kids cameras" are toys. Most likely to look like security cam footage from 20 years ago

i got the Panasonic shockproof and waterproof ones
prolly ok for kids below 10 (around 160)

quality is ok but is nice as can drop it and clean it easy

i had a cheapie oanda looking like one from abi baba but that died quickly

this camera ive had it for 4 years, still going strong
