Best Value CO2 Refill (2.6kg) in Brisbane

Currently paying $35 per refill in Virginia. I’ve read some places charge $25 but most don’t publish prices on their website. I tried making enquiries but some places have closed.

Anywhere cheaper? I’ll usually be filling 2x2.6kg tanks. Our family drinks about 5 bottles of very fizzy carbonated water every day so a tank lasts about a month. I’m not sure if this is about right for number of carbonations or if I should be chasing a leak.

Thanks!

  • I'm still on my first cylinder, but had looked into this when analysing the economics of refills. I was going to consult these guys: https://annerley-home-brew.business.site

  • Just checked with them, they don’t offer CO2

    • Did they recommend anywhere else?

      • Unfortunately no

  • Not much intel was shared back in April

    • I saw that thread. I’m around North Brisbane and frequently go up to Redcliffe so thought that there might be other options around here?

      • I'm feeling like there may not be any $25 refills in Brisbane

      • I just bought a tank for sodastream from Margate. Forgot the name.. The store is across the road from woolworths carpark. Next the $2 shop and a Chinese restaurant. Near the roundabout. I'm sure she said $35 for refill.
Also, from memory, across the road from the ox is a home brewing shop.

I've just asked Direct Gas at Sandgate via messenger and will let you know when they reply. They seem to have really good service on LPG.

    • Not at this stage, cut they are hoping to in the future.

Maybe keep an eye on them.

  • I suggest that you ask at https://aussiehomebrewer.com/ where heaps of people buy CO2 refills.

I do, but am in Adelaide, so can't help, but if the number of suppliers in Adelaide is a guide you should have zero problems in Brissie.

  • Have you tried looking at Kegland's site for their distributors? That's usually a good place to start as they'll show some places that do refills and just contact them for a price.

    • Yeah, that’s where I started looking though a lot of places near me don’t do CO2, have closed, or their website/email addresses don’t work. I have called a couple as well.

  • Country Brewer is $34 for a 2.6kg co2 bottle. Stores in qld at Stafford and Jindalee.

    • Thanks @flagger. Just gave them a call.

      Country Brewer Stafford

      CO2 refills
      2.6kg $34
      6kg $55

Apparently they have a 10% off loyalty discount for repeat customers, so about $31 for a 2.6kg refill.

You drop off your tank and pick it up 24hrs later.

      • I got mine done at jindalee and it was refilled on the spot, took about 10 mins. I was told no loyalty discount on refills though.

        • Refill on the spot is worth a bit for the convenience - they did say that they can do it if required. I'll probably start going to Country Brewer since it's slightly cheaper and closer.

Just for comparison, in Victoria there is a sale on 2.6kg CO2 refills with this company and it is $20: https://www.kegking.com.au/2-6kg-co2-fill.html
