IKEA Click & Collect on Low Stock Item?

Anyone knows how IKEA click & collect orders are processed? Since furnitures are big items, do they only "pick" the order closer to collection day/time, or will the stock be set aside once my order is confirmed?

I need to buy a low-stock item, but can't get to the store. C&C allows me to select a pick-up slot in a few day's time which is perfect, but it'd be useless if they only pick the item a few day's later as it'll likely run in the meantime (low and "last chance" item).

"but it'd be useless if they only pick the item a few day's later as it'll likely run in the meantime"…….. What?

    • Sorry I meant "run out" of stock. It had 6 this morning, and 3 left by the end of the day. So assuming the last 4 would sell out within a day or so. It's a "last chance" clearance so doubt it'll re-stock.

      • You could be right. Adelaide IKEA sells out of small stuff all the time, or they used to anyway. But if they are like any C&C they will pick it asap right?

  • Stock is allocated to you when you place an order, hence it shows you what's available for C&C/delivery or not. Otherwise taking thousands of orders with no fixed stock allocation would be a hugely inefficient logistical nightmare.

In addition, low stock items are usually replenished frequently provided it's not clearance or there are some external delays from factory/container ship etc. Issues can and do arise but generally you should be fine.

    • I really hope so, did more searching online and found other posts of people turning up to C&C at IKEA to find some items in their order out of stock. Hoping IKEA has improved their system over the years, at least sending out an alert to staff to collect "low stock" items. Just placed my order online but the available stock number has not reduced either.

    • My recent experience was ordering a dining table and chairs, selecting a delivery date and the table being delivered but not the chairs, after a few days of the chairs not turning up I got onto ikea customer support (waited one hour to connect) and they said the chairs were out of stock and no new delivery date had been allocated, and that delay in me contacting them meant I had to wait another week and a half for a delivery date to be available. Very annoying, obviously the stock was not allocated when I ordered.

  • Are you able to give a short collection time, then alter this to a later time afterwards?
