Waste Removal Melbourne

Hi,

Just wanted to see if anyone knows the cheapest options to get rid of some renovation waste like carpet and underlays plus a heap of green tree waste.
Council will only collect 2 square meters of green waste which is not enough, as I need about 6-8 square meters of green waste removal.

Thanks

I'd use council cleanup for carpet and do tip runs for the green waste.

Just pony up and get a skip.

  • Airtasker for $100 per pickup load or rent a truck and take it to nearest recycling facility yourself.

      airtasker $100 LOL

May as well save the $100 and illegally dump it yourself

  • For green waste try calling gardeners or tree trimmers. They will be used to hauling that stuff away and may appreciate an easier job than usual since they don't have to cut anything.

If you can't fit the renovation stuff in 2 sq meters, you can try bribing a neighbour to make their own request to council and get the excess picked up from outside their place.

Check your Council as generally you get two hard waste collections a year, both of which can be claimed in one go.

I recently got rid of about 90sqm of carpet rolled up to about 4x1x2m, plus about the same in green waste.

The collection conditions stated that i may need to pay money if the waste exceded my two default collection amounts at a cost of about $150. This cost was cheaper than getting a skip bin so was happy to pay.

In the end they collected all with no additional charge. But my yearly collection amounts were exhausted.

EDIT: The collection Council was Whitehorse. Carpet was neatly rolled into manageable rolls, and green waste were in tied bundles.

Yep, we get six collections a year.

  • Just get a skip bin and be done with it.

  • Cut up the carpet so it fits into a regular wheely bin. Fill your bin each week, walk the street on bin night and dump what you can in the neighbors bins as well.

    • … then let Neighbours curse at you !!!

with my local WA council - bin collectors have become very OSH orientated … they won't even touch a kerbside bin - if lid is even 3cm above (eg. not sitting flush).

Also … I like to put bin out the night before … then (on morning of bin collection) take 3 bags of rubbish out … to clear the bins inside.

It REALLY arks me up when neighbours use MY bins for THEIR rubbish.
