TheFork.com.au Shutting down - 31st March 2024

Just received an email that The Fork is shutting down.

Be sure to use your Yums quickly.
Logged into my account and realised I had no Yums anyway. At least I got a few free meals out of them while they operated.

We have an important announcement to share regarding our services in Australia.
After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that TheFork will be discontinuing its operations in Australia.
From March 31st, 2024, TheFork's local website and app will no longer be accessible. We understand that this decision may come as a surprise, and we want to assure you that this was not a choice made lightly.
Due to the significant impact the pandemic had on the global economy, particularly the hospitality industry, we therefore had to implement certain cost measures, which includes a reduction of TheFork's geographical footprint.
You have until March 31st, 2024, to redeem your Yums. Once this date passes, any unused points will automatically expire and will become inaccessible.
During this period, our services will remain fully operational, and you will be able to continue booking at your favourite restaurants with TheFork until 31st March 2024.
Should you have any additional questions, please visit our FAQ here or reach out to our dedicated support team at [email protected].
Thank you for your trust throughout the last 15 years and most importantly, for supporting local restaurants.

    You have 37,900 Yums

😭 I wanted to use them for my trip to Europe in 2025.

Will I still be able to use TheFork if I travel to another country?
From 1 April 2024, you will no longer be able to book restaurants with your Australian user account.

If you wish to use TheFork in another country, we would love to have you back! Please note that you will need to create a user new account when you travel in a Country where TheFork operates in order to complete your future bookings.

      That's a fair few meals.

      Better start using them up.

I don't think the points are transferable.

  • oh no… no more free steak at meat and wine sydney

I only ever used them for the discount dining.

The deals are so poor these days that it has fallen into irrelevance.

It was good to use when it had lot more restaurants under the umbrella. Now a days they were localised to the city area mostly.

    Godspeed

  • really bad news. we had earn many yums credits. now like force hand to use them all in Godspeed with so few good options to redeem

  • What the fork?

  • I only have 4500, but Meat & Wine Co accept them!

I'll have to book a few dinners, I wish I could use for take away 😂

I am surprised at this – there are quite a few bookable restaurants on TheFork, even offering 30%+ off. I have noticed restaurants that were previously unavailable have since rejoined TheFork, presumably due to the number of sales it generates.

    • Guess they'll be moving to Seven Rooms or OpenTable now

      • Do these provide benefits like the Fork?

        • +2

Nope but they're the other main ones I've seen being used e.g. Merivale and restaurants by Andrew McConnell use Seven Rooms

The other alternative is firsttable but there are usually more stringent restrictions with the discount (i.e. early dinner/limit of 4 ppl etc.)

  • Dimmi was much better than the Fork.
As soon as it became the Fork they stopped discounts on solo dining and also lost the AMEX spend $50 get back $20 month

Interestingly the fork app still working. Anyone else tried using it?

    • Seems like you can redeem YUMs still at a few places too?

  • Total strange. I dig around the fork app. There is still some pricy diners still have their business offer use of Yums. must be an open error. if you actually still book or redeem yums. when you get to their place. they might not offer anything

I just tried to find a few restaurants to make a booking on the app but keel getting server errors. I think they have finally turned it off.

I lost $20, but it's okay. Ive been to the 4 locals that we can redeem at and are bored with them.

Accor at 50% off is the next best thing. Can anyone here recommend any Fork alternatives please?
