Dukes Weight Loss Shakes

Has anyone here tried Dukes Weight Loss Shakes and also
The Man Shake?
I'm interested in hearing opinions on how they compare.
I tried The Man Shake but it literally made me vomit and caused constipation. 🤮😖
I don't want to waste any more money if Dukes aren't any better.

Any kind of dramatic change to your diet will mess with you and anything new can have a pretty strong impact. Did you replace all your meals with it? Ease into it? What was your diet like before going on it?

The Dukes one has even less fibre and proteins from grains rather than whey, I imagine it'd be even more of a shock to the system.

    • I replaced breakfast and lunch with The Man Shake for four days and ate a normal dinner.
I suffered from nausea and constipation until the fourth day when I vomited.
Everything returned to normal when I stopped the shakes.
      Thank you.

FWIW, the Man Shake tasted like shit too..

Mate of mine started walking …
1klm then 2. Then worked his way up to 5klm and went on the Keto Diet…
He was seeing a specialist, got to his goal weight, and he now controls his weight down to 1kg

        Whole lifestyle change.

You can only lose weight if you go into a caloric deficit.

Either eat less or exercise more.

Shakes work as they are predominantly protein which tends to fill you up for longer with less calories.

If you can't increase your exercise regime i'd seriously look at cutting out meals/reducing the size of your meals. I found even substituting breakfast for a cup of tea was enough for me to shed ~5kg in 3 months without breaking a sweat.

Put away all your large dinner plates and only use small serving plates, portion control is key

Cutting bread and things made of flour in general can help a lot. Body turns it into sugar and it's easy to eat a lot of it. I love sandwiches but am thinking of stopping bread too.

But 9 pc of kfc in 1 sitting don’t hit the same these days :(

Not sure why you're being negged for speaking the truth.

Diet shakes and 16 + 8 IF is good for losing weight quickly. It's just keeping the weight off when you go back to a regular diet which is the hard part.

        never a truer word spoken,

    • Thank you everyone for your advice.

You may be allergic of whatever to whey if it gives you the liquid shits and cramps. You can get shakes made with vegetable proteins instead of milk protein.

  • I haven't tried either, they're both just a well sponsored marketing campaign.

Its already been said by others but it comes down to caloric expenditure per day. (Calories in vs Calories out)
You can essentially also opt just to buy a bag of protein as a meal replacement option as well, that being said the constipation likely wasn't so much related to the shake it was likely a lack of fibre being consumed per day (that dinner meal).

Also don't get in the mindset that since you're eating the one meal at dinner and having shakes on others that you can therefore eat a huge meal of whatever with high caloric content.

As others have suggested a lowering of portion sizes, reduction in condiments/sauces etc will make a difference for you combined with an increase in movement (find something you enjoy doing rather than it being something you find tedious). Those two actions combined will see you achieving results as you will be able to get yourself into a caloric deficit, consistency is key.

The only shakes recommended by dieticians are the Optifast Protein Plus, as they are the best combination of macro- and micro-nutrients. The shakes are incorporated into a full regime which supports sustainable loss of fat while maintaining muscle, and gradually shifts you to a healthier diet.

If you are overweight, your GP can refer you to a dietician for 3-5 sessions paid by Medicare. Health funds also offer incentives for exercise and the cost of some meal delivery services.

Thank you so much. I'll talk to my GP and find out what Bupa can offer. 👍

I have tried quite a few and agree with your Man Shake assessment, it is disgusting.

I settled on Rapid Loss, they have a good assortment of flavours (that actually taste nice) , are often on sale at majors and they have a nice thickening agent that gives a good mouth feel

Shakes may work in the short term but unless you make some lifestyle changes you won't keep weight off.
I dropped 35kgs a few years back and started studying health and nutrition.
I would highly recommend you read the book The Primal Blueprint. It helped me immensely

    • @minz
Thank you, I have just read some very good reviews on the book.

I use man shake & Isowhey Men’s Shake, depending which one is better priced when ordering. Both of these have lower sugar content than many others.

I’ll have a shake mid afternoon when I’m getting hungry and would normally reach for snacks to get me through til dinner time.

CSIRO has a diet, if it doesn’t work you get your money back. I think it’s about $149.

The CSIRO book is cheap/er and there a lot of summaries available free on the net/youtube

Even if you lost weight on these shakes what is your plan? Stay on the shakes the rest of your life? Most weight loss diets fail in the long term what ever changes you make need to be looking at the long term.

Look at what changes you can make that you can stick to. Weight loss will be a lot slower but you will be more likely to keep it off.

    Lots of little changes.

Less processed foods and more movement.

An small example is dont try to park right out the front of the shop your going to park 20 meters away, 50 meters away it all adds up.

Walk a bit quicker than usual.
