    I prefer 0.7mm

    • 2mm is better, but then you're in Staedtler territory

    • Me too, I find 0.5 too scratchy. The 0.7 version is a very good pencil.

Noticed the 0.9 is also on sale, I'll give it a whirl, cheers OP.

  • sht is selling out in minutes after posting

edit: actually other colours are available

god how hype would having one of these bad boys have been in highschool nearly 20 years ago.
if only i could spin pens like those Taiwanese kids that always sat in the front of Physics and Maths C class :c

    • +1

When I grew up, the private schools were the big pen spinners. Even now, 30 odd years later, you can sit in meetings and spot the old private school boys from their pen spins

    • +1

Nah blood. Gotta get ya pen game up. You can spin cheap arse BIC pens too. Just need to practice. But I do find the heavier pens feel better.

    I love my rOtring 500. I bought for $10
    Wait for sale.

        $10.88 + $20.09 for delivery :(

        • yeah, the delivery almost got me…

        • "Ships from
          Risa's kawaii room"
          so no Prime.

    • this is more rotring 600 or actually 800 territory, different pens…

GraphGear 300 or 500 would be the rotring 500 equivalent…

      • sorry for my ignorance - how is a better version different from the others? buying them for my kids so keen to know.

        • +1

If buying for kids, get lighter plastic bodies like the rotring 500. Heavy pencils of metal construction like 600 or 800 are difficult to hold for long periods but are good for design work etc.

        • +1

These are designed with drafting in mind. So technical drawing, but they also happen work perfect for writing too. Important function is the fragile tip that extends the lead actually can be retracted so less chances of damaging the pen when the user inevitably drops the pen.

Also, they have solid construction, comfortable holding position, rubber grip for long writing sessions and knurling to prevent sliding etc etc. These are perfect for all writing in my opinion

  • I use Pentel e-sharps 0.5mm free from the stationary cupboard at work. Is this noticeably better?

    • +2

Difference is only that it feels great in the hand. It is a little heavier and has a good weight distribution. Other than that, the function is the same. Free is always better.

  • These feel nice, but unfortunately snap really easy. The inside is plastic so if any flex pressure is applied in your pocket they snap really easy at the top of the grip.

  • thanks op grabbed one 0.7mm

  • OOS

  • Missed them all

One of my nerd interests is German and Japanese technical stationery. I really like the GraphGear 1000 and have loads of them. I prefer the 0.7 and 0,.9mm but at this price, the 0.5mm is fine (2mm is best IMO though). This pencil has a good weight to it and has an excellent grip.

    Recommended.

    • +1

Only 0.9mm left when I got one.

Will be interesting, never had one this THICC.

      5 and 7 gang since I was a child.

  • 0.9mm one is still in stock at time of writing.

  • +2

I have a 0.5 from previous sale, love it. Will be my last pencil assuming it lasts the distance.
And yes, i can spin it and also backwards.
    Game on.

    • +1

i can spin it and also backwards.

well i am not surprised with a user name and dp of the great Miyagi.
      wax on wax off mate

Uni Kuru Toga Roulette in gunmetal is my go-to. I'm a sucker for a knurled metal body & not a fan of the rubber bumps on the graphgear, I feel they cheapen then look of it. The Roulette has a decent weight to it and great writing feel. They go on special for around $12 on Amazon.

      yoooo wtffff this looks NICEEEEEEEE

      and JDM AS FK?

    • +1

I didn't mind the Uni Kuru Toga Alpha Gel when I tried it, aside from it feeling insubstantial in the hand because of the plastic body (and the erasers which get worn down to a nub, at which point they're near impossible to take out to replace the lead)

It looked and felt a bit cheap but I'm yet to come by one with a nice, comfortable grip that doesn't. I've tried knurled metal and there's a spot on my ring finger that it absolutely sandpaper. Can't deny they look way better though

    • Tbh I don't think the sharpening function works well on the kuru toga

      • Possibly. But it doesn't work less well than a standard mechanical pencil.

        • Kinda. I used it on and off for a while until it fully broke (which it probably wouldn't have if it didn't have the mechanism)

          • @justtoreply: That sucks. Bought my Roulette Aug 21, use it quite a bit each week. Still going strong. Fingers crossed.

I have many others, this just my bargain fave daily driver.

  • i thought this was for a quantity of 1000 pencils which is one hell of a deal
