Website takes forever to load from fewer than 50 clicks.

  • Good timing for me. Managed to get one, but using the website was a painful experience for sure.

  • what about for chonkier pups?

    Several things

NexGard Spectra Chewables For Medium Dogs Green 7.6-15kg

I always buy one size up and chop in half / same amount of active ingredients - There will be people that disagree with this

Vetsupply $68.88 with code but did not check freight

I mean its assuming the ingredients are mixed perfectly, but thats also assuming the correct weighted one is mixed evenly and given production lines. Considering its not human consumption you wonder what the accepted tolerances are anyway lol so prob relatively safe to do it that way…. They also say its quite well below the acceptable limits even at double the dose or something iirc. Joys for me and my 72kg dog lol

that'd be me in the past (since they don't have score marks & vets also said not to do it for the same reason). But Boehringer Ingelheim (who makes the product) confirmed that indeed you can cut them in half & use them for half doses.

My name is M00cow and I was wrrr wrrrr wrrrr not correct.

        source for this?

        • It came to them in a dream.

        • me, talking to one of their lab techs, using this fancy piece of technology called a telephone.

Family member is a pharmacist and said that doing this is fine. Very high chance the active ingredient is evenly distributed.
Even if it's slightly off, the fact that they have quite large weight ranges for each tablet strength means there is a margin for error for dosage.

      • yep that's basically what the lab tech from Boehringer Ingelheim said.

I also asked about expiry date. officially they don't recommend it, as they've not tested after the date (i.e. they can't guarantee that it's still 100% effective, because they haven't tested to see if the active ingredients are still potent enough), but unofficially the ingredients are very stable and if stored in a cold dark place (container in the fridge) they should be fine for well after, especially given the wide weight range. They suggested that if you had say a 6kg dog and you give them a 5-7.5kg tablet, then even if it degraded by 20% then it's still well within the range. But if you had a 7.5kg dog, then maybe not rely on it being 100% effective much past the use by date.

    • What storage option do you have for the other half?

      • Would like to know this too! How can we store the other half to ensure it maintains its efficacy?

        • +1

Put it back in the blister pack and just throw it in the fridge until the next month. The fridge should keep humidity levels low so it doesn't absorb moisture from the air like at room temperature conditions

The Ozbargain way to get things like this is to go to your the major pet exhibitions and load up on samples.

    Eg:
    Million paws walk
    Dog Lovers festival

    • good idea.

although google says you gotta be careful when switching between these medications.
..could play havoc on their system if you do it incorrectly/often.
