Installing LineageOS on Pixel 6a. What's The Best Way to Install Android 13?

I have a Google Pixel 6a on Android 12 and I want to install LineageOS. The instructions say the device must be on Android 13 before installing LineageOS.

Warning: Before following these instructions please ensure that the device is currently using Android 13.0 firmware.
If the vendor provided multiple updates for that version, e.g. security updates, make sure you are on the latest!
If your current installation is newer or older than Android 13.0, please upgrade or downgrade to the required version before proceeding (guides can be found on the internet!).

As Android 14 is out, I cannot update to Android 13 through the settings app.

Should I try installing Android 13 Factory Image via ADB or should I install Android 14 normally and then downgrade to Android 13?

Thanks

  • Even my Pixel 4a automatically upgraded to Android 13, maybe 6a will get update soon?

    • 6a is already on 14 lmao, OP's dilemma is that they are on 12 (for whatever reason), and were they to update it'd jump to 14 instead of 13 which is what they want.

      • Yeah, 12 was shipped with the device so I can either update to Android 14 or try installing Android 13

  • Probably not what you were looking for, but I'd personally just skip the faff of trying to get to 13, and just update to 14 and install GrapheneOS instead. You're probably better off having a far more secure device with timely updates you don't have to worry about, unless you specifically needed Lineage for something.

    • Yeah, not sure about GrapheneOS. Personally, I'd prefer LineageOS. I've had LineageOS on my Pixel 1 and it was good

  • Just flash the A13 factory image and be done with it as that's what you'll be doing to downgrade anyway.
