Can't believe I've just paid $200 for a fan, hope it's as good as they say it is.

All the pricing comparison sites had this for $227 minimum, but when I went on eBay myself it was cheaper and had a $20 coupon. Also 4 day shipping instead of 2 weeks+.

  • i have 3x 660s and 1x 533dd

we use them to keep rooms fresher when it's stuffy and people are occupying the room

the 533dc is used at my desk for working and for drying shoes/sandals and for drying clothes on the line a bit faster

I feel like you should just get a cheap pedestal fan and point it out the window. You'll generate a negative pressure in the room and draw in air from other parts of the house. This is what I've done during renovations to minimise dust getting everywhere else in the house.

    • Is this a real thing? Interesting idea.

Absolutely. Air has to come from somewhere so if you pump air out a Window it is replaced by the Air coming in the door or other gaps. The room would run out of air otherwise :-)

In the evening if nice cool wind is blowing towards the rear of the house, I'll have a powerful fan sucking air in that side and another at the front of the house blowing warm air out. This way the nice cool air gets sucked though the house cooling everything in the path. It does work if you work out which doors and Windows to open/close to create the pressure..

  • I already have a 45cm 'industrial' floor fan that is rated to 130w. Is this likely going to be better/worse/not much different?

    • Your fan has 3.9 times the blade area of the Vornado

We've had the vornado air circulator for years now and it works really well. It's different to a fan, and the circulation is better for my asthma and I don't end up with dry eyes from the vornado. Keep it covered to avoid dust accumulation so cleaning isn't a problem. It hasn't skyrocketed our electricity bill and it's on a lot. We use it in the bedroom where we can't use airconditioning because of heritage building constraints. The only drawback is it gets a bit noisy when we use it on the higher setting (I don't think we've every used it on higher than the medium setting), but mostly lower to medium settings are strong enough for us and very quiet - in fact sometimes forget to turn it off as I can't hear it. Worth every penny and we paid about $150 on sale a number of years ago so the price isn't much higher now and in buying it we were supporting a Perth business rather than overseas junk which is make to break and be unrepairable. It has turned out to be one of the best buys ever for us.
