Liquid Cooler R9 5900X

Hello people!

Happy New Year to all!

I have a Ryzen 9 5900X with a MSI Mag Core 240R Liquid Cooling and MSI Mortar B550M

I bought that on january 2021, the system ran perfectly fine until last year, out of nowhere the pc turned off… a month later, again… this year started happening more often… So I started to investigate and found that it was getting to hot, it would go to 110 and than turn off (So it doesn't blow)

I changed the thermal compound, didn't work, put a fan directly pointed to the processor it id drop down a little bit when I wasn't using the pc (I would turn the pc on and just keep looking at the temperature)

But whenever I was opening Chrome, or watching a video, as soon as I click to do something the temp would jump from 70 to 95 instantly…

I believe my liquid cooler has something wrong (3 years already) and I'm looking to buy a new one, but I would like to see if any of you also had the same problem and if it really was the liquid cooling

Also, if anyone would recommend a 240 liquid cooling who has a good performance x Price (I'm a little afraid to buy a more expensive one and find that it wasn't the cooling)

Thanks in advance,

Common problem with AIOs, just buy a $50 Thermalright and run cool for decades …

Have been working well for my 7950X's with zero thermal throttling in a 30C room ;)

Was your 240R part of this recall?

    • I'll check tomorrow mate, did not know that! Really appreciate!

I went there and checked mate, I'm part of the recall!

      Thanks for that, life saver!

Buy a suitable Corsair (they been in the liquid cooling game far longer than MSI) liquid cooler unit for use, and sell the new MSI replacement whenever you eventually receive it.

Fwiw most use OEM partners so they don't actually manufacturer their own products.

Arctic freezer II 280 if you can fit it. Excellent value for performance. Have been running on my 5900x which is overclocked (PBO). Handles it very well and is very quiet with 140mm fans
