A cheap in-car GPS with a big screen and built in blue tooth

Hi Guys,

I don't know much about GPS units, but the missus does alot of driving around Sydney and has a blackberry.
All she wants is something with a big screen and something she can use to make and recieve phone calls.

Any advice is appreciated.

  • Try these guys
    http://www.autodvdgps.com/

they are based in China. I bought a unit for my car. it cost me just over $500 (my dealer quoted 2k for it!). Thats because I got a TV Tuner(which I dont use)and Reversing camera..

The base unit comes with GPS, DVD, Bluetooth, Ipod connectivity etc.
I installed the unit myself. It wasnt hard to install at all. I;ve had it for 18 months. No complaints so far.

There are local mobs who sell these and they will install it for you. you will obviously have to pay for their labour.
    Do a search on gumtree

  • No no no, just one that suction caps to your windscreen!

    Garmin, Tom Tom etc etc

  • bump

  • I am also looking for one.

I have come across this http://dicksmith.com.au/product/D4493/navman-my350lmt-in-car… which is a good price.
It has bluetooth, lifetime maps and live traffic, lane guidance, av in

Officeworks has it as a special order, maybe they could order it in and beat it by 5%?

  • I am now thinking about the Tom Tom Via 160 4.3" which is $129 at Dick Smith, the 180 is 5" but around $250.

    • Both have Blue Tooth?

      • yes both have bluetooth and appear to be the same. The only difference seems to be the extra 0.7" (2cm) of screen for an extra $120.

I will most likely be picking up the VIA 160 after work so if I do I will let you know what I think.
