  • These are actually pretty decent, and actually a spoon as compared to those flat wooden things they try to pass off as a spoon.

    • they suck

      • +1

Have you tried the flat wooden ones, they are far worse by comparsion.

        • omg I know what you mean now - they are absolutely terrible

these work but they are get soggy

    • Should be targeted.

  • It's completely useless, I ordered fry rice on Uber eat, and received these, can't scoop up rice without breaking.

just bring back plastic, the food comes in plastic bag, but we're forced to use paper spoons? drink lids comes in plastic but we are forced to use paper straws.

    • +8

      "forced to"

Tell us more about the day teh gubermnint broke into your house and stole all your cutlery

      • -2

ordered to a remote work site, now go away!

    • +1

      use your hands

        • +3

ah but it will be soon!

          • albo probably

yeah best get your ass to kmart and buy this:

          https://www.kmart.com.au/product/3-piece-cutlery-set-4211275…

i remember working fairly regional but at least some of those places have 24hr kmarts

nothing more funny that buying kmart shit at 3am

        • +2

          When can we normalise this?
I have absolutely done this when I haven't brought my cutlery.

Humans have literally done this for millennia, our hands were made for this.

        • … Or Sri Lanka or Bangladesh etc.

    • +6

Are you seriously unable to think of a solution to this "problem" (in quotes because, somehow, plenty of other people are able to use them without them snapping) beyond more disposable plastic?

Or is this another one of those rants from someone annoyed that the incredibly mild steps being taken to begin protecting the environment are mildly inconvenient?

      • Just make better replacement products, I'm chucking this useless item along with my plastic food container drink lid and the bag, this law doesn't really save the environment

        • Hence why I said MILD steps to BEGIN protecting the environment. I don't think the people constantly whining about "the container still being plastic" etc. would be any happier should every single piece of disposable plastic be phased out at the same time…

Presumably, much like single use bags, the intention is that you'll eventually start using your own non-disposable cutlery and these will just be back-ups for times where you can't bring/forget them. Any major reason why you can't carry a fork to work with you?

          • -5

@callum9999: Same reason I dont expect to bring my own sofa to the cinemas

            • +1

@optusprime: Ah yes, very equivalent, because a sofa is small enough to tuck into a pocket or work bag like a spoon or a set of chopsticks.

              • -4

@OZKap: You prob take a roll of toilet paper everywhere you go as well

            • +6

@optusprime: You don't take a fork to work because it's too heavy and bulky for you to carry?

Though you demonstrate my point perfectly - this is designed to change the behaviour of neanderthals. You're ranting online because you find the idea of carrying a fork too difficult. Jesus Christ.

              • -2

@callum9999: Lol go fork yourself, bring your whole house with you everywhere you go while you're at it

                • -1

@optusprime: Eww, you prob don't even use proper pronouns.

Welcome to OzAltruism, currently fighting over disposable spoons to save the universe. Remember, whatever you do it's not enough and it's still your fault.

                • @optusprime: I do take a fork to work. I'm not a precious little snowflake who throws a temper tantrum because I want a plastic fork…

                • @optusprime: I'd read that Optus has gone downhill, but didn't realise it had deteriorated this much.

    • +4

      Use chopsticks you pelican

      • -1

Gladly but uber eat came with these useless paper spoons

        • Haha not ideal

  • +2

Too bad it'a not compatible with my Japanese Miso Soup…

  • +1

This reminded me of Alanis Morissette's Ironic.

    • +1

      Same!

  • +6

    Now I just need 2000 Chinese Soup's

    • +5

      Soup's what?

      • Soup's spoons

      • Soup's Chinese Soup

    • +3

      No soup for you!

    • Made me chuckle

  • +1

These are useless to eat with.. maybe for spooning some soup - but its not hard enough to dig up rice or food with it.

    • These are perfectly fine for what they are designed for. They are soup spoons after all. You shouldn't be getting these as the only utensil for a meal. You should be getting chopsticks as well.

      • +2

That is not true at all. We Chinese use this type of spoon (the ceramic ones) not only to drink soup from, but also to eat rice, noodles and other spoonable things with. This is nothing more than reinforced paper that will bend out of shape by the fourth time you spoon anything wet or saucy from it because it's already become soggy by then.

        • -1

          We Chinese? Careful there.

If I ever went to any Asian restaurant and only got a spoon I don't think I'd go back.

  • Wonder if these come with the bonus sharp edges that make it a pleasure to use.

  • @equosafe Can you do any deal on compartment plates 4CP 12”

  • +1

Keen to buy some nice ceramic ones. Would love to hear if anyone has any recommendations?

    • You can find some nice ones on Temu, I bought some chopsticks last month and everyone loved them.

  • Will have to order 2000 Chinese fried rice.

  • +1

Paper soup spoons are horrendous, it’s like dragging sandpaper along your tongue every mouthful. Sucking on a newspaper page. I keep an Asian soup spoon at work now and take it with me cause these things are so terrible

    • +1

      Look, it's working! 😛

  • Can order from my supplier for $60+gst for 1000.
