Car Transport: PER-MEL

My girlfriend is looking at bringing her Honda Jazz over from Perth to Melbourne. I have been looking at Toll Auto and Ceva Car Carrying which seem to be around $820 door to door.

Does anyone have any recommendations for companies to use, any past experiences or advice?

  • $820 sounds pretty decent… you'd go half that just on fuel to drive it across yourself.

  • I would love to drive across the Nullabor but I unfortunately don't have the time. I am also not sure if driving a small 1.4L car across is a good idea, maybe the engine won't handle it or a roo would take me out.

    • Engine will be fine..
All cars are fine to drive 110Km these days.
It just wont be particularly comfortable.
The suspesnsion will be the biggest concern, not the engine!

A good option is the Great Southern Rail.

Perth - Melbourne unaccompanied vehicle is $662.00.

The other perk is that it will only take a couple of days to get there and you can load your car with as many personal belongings as you want (as long as the car doesn't lower significantly and the windows are not obstructed).

    • Thanks! That looks like a good option.

  • Good info to have!

Just bought a car recently and was seriously thinking about flying to Melb to buy as many of the second hand prices were significantly cheaper. Found something locally though so all good.

  • How about posting it on one of the relocation website for someone to drive for you? It wont cost much as far as I know.

    • My girlfriends work is reimbursing her for it so it will have to be a company with insurance, tax invoice etc.

      • So take the safest option possible then… Who cares how much it costs!
(Unless they're paying a flat rate and you want to profit!
