Prepaid Sim with Easy Setup

Hi, can someone recommend a prepaid sim (with new phone number) from Coles or somewhere that is cheap and easy to setup. I got one from ALDI, but after going round in a circle for about 2 hours, I’m just going to throw it in the bin and try something that’s easier to setup. I should be able to just put the sim in the phone, enter a few details and get it working right away with a new number, is there anything like that?

Thanks

    What specifically is the issue?

Pretty much every prepaid service is like that.

If you're having difficulty, maybe consider buying from a telco's physical store and getting assistance with setting it up.

    • Yes, at airport, pretend to be a traveller.

Activating the Aldi sim is pretty much the same as the others. Also it comes with $5 credit so no need to give credit card details.

If you provide more details about what the problem is we might be able to help?

  • No, easy setup should not exist as it may be used for spamming purposes.

  • I have not setup a new sim in years, but it is probably to ensure that you are not a spammer or if you are then they can find you or if you do something illegal then the AFP can with a court subpoena get infomation about you from the telco so they can contact you.

  • The setup process is the same across all providers these days. I have set up boost & lebara sims recently, nearly identical. You will need ID/verification & all the details will need to match, you will have issues if they dont. Its a legal requirement so all providers require this.

  • Thanks for all the replies. It wasn't so much the difficulty of the process as the fact that it didn't work. After entering payment details, nothing happened, and I tried again and again.

    • Why are you entering payment details though? From memory you can simply activate on the PAYG plan with no payment details needed. Has this changed?

      • I dunno, I was doing it for a family member, which probably made it more complicated. It's out of my hands now. Someone else has taken over. It was ALDI mobile, and I didn't really understand some of the options of the pulldown menus. Never done anything like this, I've been on a contract mobile plan for about 15 years.
