40% off on PlayStation too, anyone able to comment on the quality of the Switch/PlayStation versions?

Switch plays great. Only slight frame rate drops when in town and there's lots going on

      • Have you noticed an improvement in performance - has it been patched? Reviews for Switch at launch weren't very positive about performance… For example, can you bring your whole cult into the room during rituals, or only 6 of em?

See my comment below about this. I played the demo 1-2 months, and while it was playable I definitely found it much harder to play on switch than other platforms due to the frame rate.

I've got it on PlayStation. The game itself is just OK but I've had no issues with the quality of the PlayStation version. I'm not somebody who sits there trying to count pixels and frames per second etc, but if there are any drops then they weren't enough to interfere with my enjoyment of the game. Didn't encounter any bugs or crashes etc. That said, I didn't actually play that far through it yet due to playing other stuff and, like I said, this is just OK so not enough to pull me away from the other stuff very often.

Such a good game and developed by an Aussie studio!

Having played the switch demo recently and then tried it on PC, the PC was noticeably better performance (this was even using steam link). Games like this really depend on reflexes and the Switch's frame rate really leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend getting this on another platform if you can.

    • Obviously the PC is gonna be better then the switch which is as powerful as a 7 year old phone

      • Right? My point is that gameplay is much more enjoyable as a result because it's a game that requires good response times to avoid being hit (more than most). I struggled to get through early levels of the game on the switch, but as soon as I switched to PC the experience was much more enjoyable and I was actually able to play the game properly.

I wish this game was metroidvenia style

i played it on switch and performance doesnt seem as terrible as people say. I dont have anything to compare it to but perfectly playable to me.

i do wish my slaves followers would stop rebelling after a few days of neglect lol

  • Just in time for Australia Day… Sam Kekovich would be happy.

  • By way of early review: played the demo on PC, absolutely loved it. Beautiful art style - makes you want to stop and take in the scene before proceeding to the next screen. Gameplay loop seems pretty fun as well. The free update that just launched a few days ago seems great too. In terms of performance… Tried it on my PC with capable graphics card (nothing cutting edge) and ran very well. It randomly minimised my screen at one point (but didn't crash). Tried it on my Surface Pro 8 and it struggled bigtime, but was okay with graphics settings turned down to low. Wasn't brave enough to try it on my Switch haha. Price has gone back up on Steam, but still on sale at Humble.

  • In case it helps anyone else, there is a solution to the persistent bug I was getting where the game crashed in a strange way. Randomly, after about 30 mins of play, the monitor turned off to black, but PC kept running, and the only way to get out of it was to reboot PC. The fix was in an obscure Reddit post.

"For some reason in your BIOS there is a setting called C-State that automatically turns off CPU cores that aren't being used/in idle; Which in return sometimes causes your monitors to shut off on you but keeps the PC running as normal. By default your BIOS as this turned on. What ended up working for me was turning this setting off."
