Hey guys, was just checking the order, the import fees weren't included in the price so it ends up being $980.74 when included… Which is an estimate.

For items which have a customs value greater than AUD$1,000 or NZD$1,000 respectively, Amazon Global Store and AmazonGlobal, including Amazon AU for orders to NZ residents, will estimate and collect the taxes, customs duties, and fees which may apply to your order and include this figure at checkout ("Import Fees Deposit").

We estimate and collect the Import Fees Deposit at checkout with the item price, so that those funds can be used by the shipping carrier to pay the relevant taxes, customs duties, and fees on your behalf, to the appropriate authorities.

Amazon Global Store and AmazonGlobal will also permit the shipping carrier to clear your shipment through customs on your (or your recipient's) behalf and you authorise the applicable Amazon Global Store and AmazonGlobal, including Amazon AU for orders shipped to New Zealand, to designate a shipping carrier to act as your agent with the relevant customs and tax authorities of the destination country, to carry out the customs clearance for the items you order and to process and pay the actual taxes, customs duties, and fees for your order if applicable.

The Import Fees Deposit is estimated according to the shipping destination's customs regulations. It is not an actual calculation of those costs and the actual charges may vary from the estimate we provide. Typically, the Import Fees Deposit estimation is based on the item price and shipping before any promotions. This allows destination country customs authorities to obtain the accurate import duties and taxes owed to them based on the actual value of the goods.

    • But the price paid $715.16 - with GST added later - does not exceed the $1000 threshold !??

I thought so too but I think it's the dependent on the "value" before promos/discounts which is lame. It is an estimate so the cost could be different…

      • $715.16 included GST ($650.14 + $65.02 GST) going by the Tax invoice they generated, so nothing extra to pay.

      • Received today. Didn't get charged that extra for import fees.

Same watch but on camo strap is US$434.94 (about AU$660) including the delivery charge from Ashford if you use code FB10 for 10 percent discount

The Glycine bronze GMT combat sub @ US$505 (+delivery) isn't bad either, if that floats your boat (or sinks your sub).

      • $3K US list price? …nice discount there!
        nice looking watch…id go that

        • +1

I think you can take the same amount of salt with those list prices as we do for Seiko and Citizen here.

          • @Astronaut Joe: so more like $1-1.5K?

            • @franco cozzo: The list price would be "correct" in that it is what would come from Glycine themselves, it's just that the realistic street price would be way below that. In the case of this model, the street price is somewhere around US$650-$900 depending on the store. So US$500 is still a healthy discount off the normal price, but it isn't a realistic discount from an overinflated list price.
