What makes the Samsung wall charger better than others? Pretty expensive for a 45w charger.

It will actually do 45w pps charging for Samsung devices

  • Only works for plus and ultra models amoung S series.

I would buy belkin instead that can power laptops too. A $ less.

Don't think this 45w makes much difference in speed

    • Thanks for sharing the article comparing the speed of Samsung's 25W vs 45W chargers. From that it looks like the 45W charger is a waste of money. There is also the option to get a really nice Anker 30W charger for $28 (with 30% off coupon) from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Charger-Anker-iPhone-Galaxy-Includ…

    • Disagree, it depends on your device usage/model. I have a belkin 45w and it does not charge my Galaxy 23+ in superspeed so ended up buying the sammy 45w which does! (the anker will not be enough either)

      • All I'm saying is the difference between samsung 25w and 45w is negligible. But if you are getting a 45w i would get the belkin since it's dual port and also supports laptops.

        • Incorrect, you are making an assumption based on the article. The article is only testing 1 phone.

As I said I think it depends on your device. I have a Samsung 25w charger from my old S22 (non plus) and when charging my S23+ it's far slower than the 45w black one. Now, why is that so? I have NFI. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

          • @equinoxxx: Can you share the speed assistents difference?

How is this a travel adapter? Looks like a normal charger?

  • Please do not spam our tagging system. This is a USB charger, not a S24 Ultra mobile.

  • what are good alternatives to this that has super fast charging for samsungs?

    • this one

Or just search for pps charger

      • this one

But the cable isn't included which is another ~$15.

      • lol, you really recommending a heymix?

Or just search for pps charger

Actually no - you cant. Not all chargers, even ones that support 45W+ and PPS, support Samsung Super Fast Charging 2.0 (45W using PPS). A lot of them (yes, even chargers that are 65W+) only charge Samsung devices at 25W.

Now, whether the marginal benefit of 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 is actually meaningfully significant to you over 25W Super Fast Charging (it mainly makes a difference at low battery levels - total charging time is not realy that different), that is another question…

But if you specifically want 45W SFC2.0 of Samsung devices, I would only buy a charger that specifically states that it can do that. If it just says "PPS" I would bet it doesnt.

Eg. From the Heymix charger you linked:

        Sfc 2.0 not supported
Review by Patrick in Australia on 8 May 2023

“Says it supports ultra fast charging on samsung which is not true sfc 2.0 not supported now have to have the hassle of returning it.”

        • Cappromulgus comment should be sticky!

        Thanks @Jessie Ryder @caprimulgus, TIL

Bought 2 of these for $29 each last year.
It's a brick in the wall with only one port.
I think I've only used super fast charging twice and it stops SC at like 40%

    Save your money.

  • Why are the high wattage adapters so much more expensive?

    • +2

High wattage chargers have newer technology incorporated. People are willing to pay to charge their phone faster. This charger is Samsung branded and supports 45w charging with PPS whilst many others don’t

      • Okay thanks

  • -1

    Not worth it

    • I think only the 2nd is a comparable device as it has PPS whereas the first one does not.
