Alright.

Got this SUPERCOAT Adult Sensitive Fish Dry Dog Food – because apparently, even dogs have dietary preferences now. Cheaper with subscribe and save, dunno if your dog needs a subscription service for his dinner but there you go.

They're claiming it's good for sensitive skin – Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Zinc to manage skin sensitivity. Since when did dogs start worrying about skincare? I just want my dog to stop scratching, not apply moisturizer. It's also got prebiotics for digestive sensitivity – it's dog food, not a science experiment. I just want my dog to eat without staging a digestive drama.

Nourishes skin and coat – my dog's not auditioning for a beauty pageant. I just want him to look decent without needing a stylist. Natural defence – are we sending our dogs to war now? I just want my dog to ward off fleas, not engage in a battle of epic proportions.

No added artificial colors or flavors – it's dog food, not a culinary masterpiece. I just want my dog to eat it, not critique the presentation. Proudly made in Australia – because apparently, dogs care about the origin of their food now. I just want my dog to stop sniffing around and eat.

If you want your dog's dinner to sound like a gourmet experience with all the skincare and digestive benefits, this food might be your pup's new delicacy. As for me, I just want a bag of dog food without turning my pet into a wellness guru.

Still mostly grain and cereal by products, which can cause skin and gut irritations for dogs

    Crap Cereal based food.

If you left a hungry dog in a field with only a fish, a chicken, wheat, sorghum, barley and corn. What do you think it would eat first ?

Mycotoxins are toxins produced by microscopic fungi during plant growth, storage, transport or processing. They can be present in various plant organs, including grains, fruit and tubers.

The most common one in animal feed is alfatoxin B1, found in wheat grains in particular. In humans and animals, mycotoxins can cause various health problems (liver toxicity, kidney toxicity, etc.). Nevertheless, control methods are put in place at harvest time and the food industry also uses detoxification methods. In general, moulds do not grow on properly dried and preserved food, so effective drying and correct storage are effective measures against moulds and the production of mycotoxins.

    • What do you recommend?

      • Meat, veges, eggs, brown rice

Chicken drumsticks are like 3.50 per kg at the moment 👍

        • But veg and brown rice wouldn't be eaten in the wild would it?
Should it be grain free only?
Dogs can eat chook bones raw right? Or are you suggesting strip the meat from $3.50kg drumsticks and make them a cooked dish?

          • @killabob: Plants provide dogs with beneficial vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and phytonutrients not found in meat.

Brown rice is an excellent source of fiber, essential amino acids, micronutrients like B vitamins, magnesium and manganese and contain high-quality carbohydrates that provide your dog with energy.

If you are worried about your dog choking on chicken bones, they are not necessary for protein; you just want some kind of meat. Kangaroo is a good one. I have fed my dogs all kinds of bones through their whole lives and never had a problem (uncooked). The bonus is that they have great teeth, and I've never had to pay a vet to descale or do any dentist work. I also feed them frozen beef bones that they chew for a long time.

Is there a nonsensitive fish option? My dog doesn't like eating sensitive fish.

    • kurt cobain addressed this concern years ago

Please don't feed your dogs rubbish food like this.
Always buy grain free food made by reputable companies.

There are no data that shows that a grain free diet has any health benefits for dogs and cats over more traditional diets. Grain free diets for pets is a huge part of the marketing conversation around what we consider “healthy”, and we have bought into this craze hook, line and sinker.

  • for fish that are Adult sensitive, they need dried dogs, or something ?
