Worth 2.50 for the soundtrack alone.

..and Maurice Chavez's radio show. ;)

    • Anyone know where you can buy the soundtrack?

      • eBay/Amazon. And it wont be cheap :(

      • Google "Snip MP3" and find the songs on Youtube.

I already own it on disc, not sure if it is worth it just to have it on Steam. Steam lets you add non-steam game into the console doesn't it? is there another advantage I missed?

I would be excited to see this follow GTAIII's footsteps and come to iOS & Android. Mobile GTA Vice City (The Best GTA) would be amazing :-)

Yes the Soundtrack is brilliant - I bought the Vice City Radio Box Set (Actual Music CD collection, not ripping the MP3 radio stations from the game).

I wish the whole GTA collection was on special on Steam again :D

For $2.50, you don't need the disk anymore ;P

      • Good point. I wouldn't want to scratch my treasured Vice City disc and saves having to use a no-cd crack to play without having the disc in the drive (a hassle especially if you use an external USB drive)

        • You can create an image of the cd for backup purposes.

I've finally got this working now on Windows 7, will be interesting to see the price on mobile.

Does multiplayer mod work on Steam version?

  • +4

just a heads up, to play this in windows 7 you will need to do some stuffing about and read a few forums to get it working 100%, no widescreen resolutions either from memory…was a while since i had it actually installed on steam.

  • Hmm there seem to be so many Steam deals on Ozbargain I think I'm missing out since I don't know anything about it. Would anyone be kind enough to do a very brief summary of Steam? From my understanding, it's just basically like an App Store mostly for games but on the PC. Is that pretty much it?

Steam is a digital distribution platform that, yes, is similar to the App / Play Store. Titles bought from Steam can pretty much only be played on Steam, with the Steam client installed - therefore it also acts as DRM as well as a digital distributor (some people have a problem with this).
In case it isn't obvious at this point, it's only for Windows and Mac (and Linux, soon), though I think the selection for Mac is… underwhelming.

Steam is run by the company Valve, which have a few of their own games on the store(CounterStrike, most notably). Recently Valve expanded Steam's roles outside of being solely for buying games. They added the Workshop, where people can upload their own mods for some games, and a couple of other, more community based features.

Steam virtually always has some kind of promotion going, whether it's just a single one, like this, or weekend long publisher-specific promotion, or a massive week-long one, like the upcoming Christmas / Holiday sales (and the bygone Summer Sale).

You can also activate certain games on Steam (say you buy a PC game from Big W, but want it with the rest of your collection), so you're not restricted to buying solely from there.

It's brilliant :-) The account is free, so you can just sign up if you want, and partake in the cheap goodness. Be aware, though, that your PC may be severely limited in terms of hardware, in regards to game-playing capabilities (I'm assuming you don't have a high-grade PC, I apologies if I assume wrongly).

      • Very useful summary, mate. Thank you for taking the time for that!

  • For some reason I only got charged $1.51 using PayPal…

    • really? i shoukd have used paypal instead if credit card…

    • I paid through paypal as well but it cost $2.49

    • That's odd.
      Odd… but good!

  • this game begs for refresh

i tried playing it on an old machine i had (an e8400? q6600?) and it ran too quick and the gfx was ropey

it would be weird on my i7 now

    • I remember playing GTA 3 on not my last rig, but the one before that (probably with a 8800GT) and the game ran at about a million FPS haha.

  • +1 for Lance Vance Dance!
