Samsung 55" The Frame QLED 4K Smart TV (2022) QA55LS03BAWXXY $1048.94 Delivered @ Samsung EDU via App

1040

I've been looking for the frame to go on sale for months now, and although there is a similar post on Ozbargain for a 65" frame it is worth noting that the 55" comes down to just $1,104 when you are signed into the 'Education store' through the samsung app or website

The 65" would have been way too big for my space, so, wanting to make others aware of this deal who may be in a similar spot. Further to that, when you purchase the tv through the samsung app you get an extra 5% off. So I ended up getting the TV for a steal at $1,048. Better than buying second hand off marketplace any day of the week.

These had sold out the other day but are back in stock and ready for pre-order, dispatching after the 30th of Jan

Hope this helps others, and go easy as its my first post!

      • Very nice.

      • Looks quite clean 👌 where did you hide the one connect box? Cant seem to see a cable running down to the tv unit

        • As mentioned - I have a double exterior wall where the TV is installed, meaning there’s a conduit behind the wall to route the one connect cable from the TV down to the bottom (close to the skirting) where my GPO is. The one connect box is placed in the display cabinet in the bottom and plugged into the GPO right next to it, thereby hiding all cables/mess.

          • @plentifoo: Is that standard if you have a double exterior wall that you have a conduit to utilise and then you made space to come out from the bottom near skirting to hide the cable?

When you mean double exterior wall, do mean double brick? Or is that brick veneer?
My current location of Tv is on a double brick wall only coz its next to the garage and bloody odd that only the wall is double brick yet everywhere in my house is brick veneer 🙄

How’s the quality of the Tv? It looks prettt smick ok your wall? And sorry last question lol how did you mount it? Assume there’s some wall thin brackets and you did it yourself?

            • +1

@prankster: yes generally that's the case. with a double brick wall, a sparky can make a GPO anywhere for pretty cheap. Cutting into a single brick wall is gonna cost a lot more, not to mention having to reseal and repaint.

Can't comment on the 2022 one, the 2021 is good enough for my requirements, the main reason why i got it was because it could sit flush against the wall and look like the rest of the furniture. i got a nvidia shield hooked up to mine for all my streaming needs, so i don't even really use the samsung UI at all, so i won't comment. i only use it before i go to bed at night, so daytime performance doesn't really bother me.

The frame comes with a proprietary slim wall mount. Didn't DIY, definitely needed a sparky get the GPO in the right spot, and most sparkies would be capable of installing the mount and TV as well.

      • Tbh looks like an old photo frame from the 60’s, unless it’s your camera that’s making it look yellow and washed out

        • cool heh? that's the look we were going for as though it were just an inconspicupus as a piece of furniture - not some modern tech. but yes definitely have an issue with the overly yellow tones, i have to adjust it all the way to the coolest tone, then direct sunlight on it as well doesn't help. maybe the 2022 frame is better with colours.

          • @plentifoo: Looks damn good if your going for that old school look, especially if you were rotating old photos on it

  • Isn't this only 200 cheaper than others are selling it for?

Good price but after allegedly getting nearly 3k off my s24U and tab 9 then nearly 3k off the s95c Tv I've decided something……

I don't get out of bed for anything less than a 2k saving.

Plus I've run out of money 😞

      Isn't this only 200 cheaper

      "Only 200"? That's spoiled.

      • Yep. Every other deal pales in comparison sadly.

These Samsung frame TV's are very poor quality and inferior to the Sony equivalents. Also Samsung has absolutely terrible warranty support if you experience any issues. Avoid like the plague.

    • No idea about support, but what's the Sony equivalent to this one?

  • I am not getting the extra 5% in the app, is there something I need to do to activate it?

    • NVM, it automatically happens in the cart/checkout!

Just to let u know that it’s for first order only.

  • It's telling me now that "no delivery packages are available in your area". I am in metro Perth… so, bugger. I assume there are stock issues now.

Got it a touch cheaper ($968.19) using the 15% loyalty + 5% app + $100 trade up for anyone without an edu email

  • How did you get 15% code? Can you plz tell us.. I think through chat you only getting 10%.

  • What's the price of 85" and 75" in edu.. Can anyone tell plz.. So may be I will tell a friend to give me his edu email to buy this.

  • What's the price of the 32" in the edu store? Trying to determine if worth the effort to access someone's edu email or not

    • Just be aware the 50 inch and below are different/lower spec to the larger screens.

      • Is there any need for the 200Hz on the 55” and larger screens?

        • There's quite a few differences so I'd say if you're planning to game or for sports go for the 55 and above. Has HDMI 2.1, freesync, 120hz vs 60hz (don't think it's actually true 200hz), motion processer also better. I think there are audio differences.

          • @911r: Feel like if those were priorities, you’d be better off looking for a different TV. Grabbed one of these to hide the TV in plain sight.

            • @ATangk: Maybe but then you don't get the other benefits of this tv. It's a decent middle ground if you have a ps5 etc as it is decent for gaming and looks good too. I think people under estimate it because it's pitched as a lifestyle tv but it actually has everything you need. Sure it's not the best of everything but it's much better than the average tv. Not many will do 4k at 120hz for example.

Just as a heads up for the App discount, when you first install it it doesn't default to the Education Store pricing… just the normal retail.

Click on "My Page" at bottom of screen, then directly under your name you can change the store you are viewing.
Remove the TV from the cart and put it in again.

Education store pricing will kick in, and the extra 5% off education price will come off when you go to the payment page.

*edited: Typical Samsung crap… they do not deliver in my area (ACT Metro!).

    Waste of time.

    • No postcodes in ACT are acceptable.

    • Test addresses in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane Metros seem to work.

    • +1

      Yeah, same for Perth/WA. Frustrating.

I used their online chat regarding 'an issue with ordering on their website'… telling them that ACT metro postcodes were incorrectly being excluded.
It was a hoop jumping exercise dealing with the online chat (clearly they were serving multiple customers at once and replies were slow).

There was no resolution by the time I finished the chat (they said I should email their support team!), but low and behold I tried again today to order and there are now twice weekly delivery slots available for ACT!

It was worth the trouble for me- I ended up getting a 65" frame for $1210 delivered!
JB, HN, Good Guys all a couple hundred more than that (and that's their 'sale' prices)…. plus delivery.

A 2 week wait for 'preorder' but worth it if you want one these. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thank you, this is awesome and much appreciated. I'd upvote a lot of times if I could!

I did contact chat the other day on a similar note. All I got (after long waits) was try again tomorrow, hopefully it would be fixed. I never bothered with chat again, and the error was never resolved.

And now the 55 inch is not available. I will keep checking!

I'd love to go bigger, but it literally won't fit on the wall I had in mind.

So I managed to get this down to 866

    It was by chance.
Here's the order in which I did it:

    • New account via Samsung Shop App (5%) NOT via EDU store, just the normal Shop

    • Requested a loyalty code (10%) Make sure it's a 10% code (it begins with CES)

    • Trade-Up offer discounted me by 70 something (you don't have to have a fully functioning old tv for this! Any tv working or not)

    • Requested a 15% code (Begins with V15, this was was a gesture of goodwill due to the TRADE-UP promotion not subtracting the full $100 as per the confirmation screen but instead was subtracting some weird amount in the $70's)

All the discounts were able to be stacked in my case

    = $866

My advice, to anyone considering purchasing a tv from Samsung Australia is don’t do it. The worse customer experience of my life.
