Asus ROG Ally on Spectre Superlite CE

Hi Ally Owners,

I just discovered this particular Windows distro named ‘Spectre’. Having tried it on my laptop for a few hours today, I’m quite happy with the lack of whatever ‘feature’ M$ had implemented after Win 7. The size of the clone of a fresh install is only 26g. Since I needed to swap out the SSD on my Ally, this seems to be the prefect time to install it.

Any thoughts? Just waiting for the back up to finish atm before I can open it up. My guess is it would improve battery life and reduce clutter, hence making the experience at least marginally better (maybe 5%?).

Update: need to get smaller screwdrivers. Looks like I need to go to Bunnings. The stock SSD is the exact same as the one I got from AliExpress from the sale, the only difference on the label is the capacity. No one would ever know 🤣

  • How safe is it? What hidden keyloggers or hijacks are embedded within?

This was fairly common in the XP-era with lots of dodgy custom builds.

    • Looks legit. I mean, I use my handheld to play games, the highest risk would be steam and other game accounts being stolen maybe? Not much else is going on and doesn’t even have to be connected to the internet most of the time. Happy to gamble :)
