ALDI Pool Digital Water Tester - $49.99 - Any Good?

Hey guys,

ALDI have a digital water tester for $49.99 this weekend.

I know that, yes, you can just go to a pool shop and get tests and report for free but my pool test strips have run out (aqua check, pack of 50) and cost ½ the price of this digital tester! Hence I’m curious about whether it’s worthwhile. I also struggle at times with the colour charts on the strip testers and think it’d be nice to get a number out.

Does anyone knows anything about it or have experience using it? I can’t even find the manufacturer to lookup manual/specs etc…
Even just general opinions about digital water testers.

There’s a mention about “online analysis” which would be cool too. I guess to leave the guesswork out but no idea how good that service is either.

Thank you.

Edit :

I think I’ve found something similar on Amazon.

That one does PH, salinity and hardness. Guess it’s a start!

    Any Good?

    Good Different

  • Same as amazon one at $29.95 by the looks - tried to post link but the bot got onto it.

  • +1

Looks like it just does pH, temp, total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity…..so pretty much pH is the only useful one.

Doesn't do alkalinity, cyanuric acid or pretty much anything that is useful in a pool test strip.

I think a proper electronic test kit that measures the same stuff that test strips do would be very expensive.

I'd avoid….just go with pool shop or aqua check.

  • Better off with this if the only useful thing it tests is PH. https://clearchoicelabs.com.au/shopping/rapid-ph-test-kit-sm…

Buying the whole kit will pay itself off the first time you use it, because you won't have the pool shop trying to sell you rubbish you don't need.

  • 60 day return period makes it a no-brainer to buy and try. If you think its worth it, then hang on to it.
