There are Apple diehards, but I'm sure only the ubernerds would buy every single mobile device. If they merely refrained from buying each one and put the cash into Apple stock at each release, they'd probably be millionaires starting from the first iPod.

Nerds don't buy idevices. Soccer moms, teeny boppers and old farts do. Apple is obsolete tech, too simplistic and so uncool.

      • i've seen entire Apple collections turn up on ebay… but yeah… why would you buy them all… not only are they expensive, they have awful retained value

You missed their biggest market segment: Hipsters.

    • but I'm sure only the Fanboys/girls would buy every single Apple mobile device

      FTFY.

The only apple device I've owned so far has been the iPod nano 2nd gen. It was fairly good… for it's time, but as later iterations came out they became rehashes of the old product with one or two new features built in. Meanwhile, competing devices had much better features like built in wifi, bluetooth, touchscreens — and this was in 2010 before the square shaped iPod nano was released.

I believe they're going down the same road with iPhones and iPad now. The new iPhone 5 is just bigger and faster than the iPhone 4 and the new iPad has no new features to speak of.

Apple has changed it's product design strategy from "ahead of it's time" to "just new enough but will be obsolete next month".

  • I've just owned one of each not all the generations

  • The only reason you would have one of every handheld device of every generation would be if you were collecting the stupid things. Why else would you have an ipod classic, touch, mini, nano, etc all at the same time.

  • There was also the ipod shuffle.

  • an apple retailer would :)

  • I had a nano 4gen in high school, upgraded to an iod touch 4gen in uni and got an ipad 2 for birthday.

I hardly touch them now when I have my s3 handy, the only thing I miss from iOS the free apps.

  • Could call me a diehard, I've owned:

    Ipod
    Ipod Nano
    Iphone
    3gs
    4
    5
    ipad
    ipad 2
    ipad mini

Not to mention my multiple Macs :-)

  • You forgot this widely known and super profitable Apple device,
