What can I say about this game… Just unbelievable. My personal GOTY 2023 can now be snagged at an incredible price. I paid full price on release and I wish I could have given them more!!! I'm going to get this digital copy just so my physical copy can go Straight to the Pool Room!

  The game received negative reviews from critics and was ranked by Metacritic as the worst game of 2023. Its poor reception and sales caused Daedalic Entertainment to cancel plans for a second Lord of the Rings game and close their development division, laying off their staff and moving to a publishing-only model

    I guess that Metacritic ranking was finalised before the game The Day Before was released:

    • 7th Dec 2023 - Game released on Steam to widespread criticism
    • 11th Dec 2023 - Developer Fntastic announced their pending closure, citing financial failure. Game removed from Steam later that day.
    • 22nd Dec 2023 - The studio closed on 22 December and stated that all purchasers would automatically be refunded.

    you should have seen some of the LOTR youtubers who got early access and did livestream playthroughs. The pain on their face while they were trying to be nice about it

    I just got a Steam Deck and have started playing through Shadow of Mordor again. Worth another playthrough if you're itching for LOTR. Plus it has Gollum.
