ALDI Automatic Pool Cleaner

Hey all,

Was just hoping for some advice on the aldi automatic pool cleaners. There's one in the weekends catalogue for $199. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this type from them. Cheers

My neighbour had one didn’t work well. I ended up giving them a zodiac I picked up from gumtree for $30. Zodiac VX40 I think, and worked much better. Maybe it has to do with the filtration unit.

Maybe try these doesn’t work well can return to Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/WYBOT-Cordless-Dual-Motor-Self-Par…

  • Is the listing wrong or it literally is just 1m hose supplied the tight asses lol

I had a Hayward vac xl ultra for circa 500 some years ago ended up turfing it within a few months as suction was unreliable and ended up going a prowler 920, an actual powered robot cleaner

    • i already have 3 spare hoses, so possibly aldi are pandering to people who want to replace their existing robot.

i have zodiac MX8 which should be ok , but I have a huge tree near my pool that drops little twigs which block the tracks or brush arms regularly (tree has been pruned back, but wind assists the twigs to fall in the pool).

  • My recollection is that it is adequate but in no way exceptional. One of those get-what-you-pay-for things. This ones is a better overall design than the ones that look like a spiky mop.

Will do the job, but not amazingly; will need replacing sooner than if you paid more; will require more attention and repositioning than a better-designed unit. That's in terms of objective performance.

But it's only $200. If you were planning on a budget unit anyway it's probably going to be comparable to other generic Chinese units with a brand that didn't design it slapped on (Kogan, Amazon "random all-caps letter" brands). You'll be able to return it to Aldi, if that helps.

You may be able to get a used unit from a reputable brand, but people generally run them with no maintanence until they die so be cautious.

  • It looks very much like a Pentair Rebel clone.
I have a Rebel and its a good little unit. Works on the suction from the pool pump and just randomly tractors its way around the pool. You do need a long enough hose for the whole pool though.

  • Looks similar to our ‘the pool cleaner ii’. It will be lesser quality, but ours has been tracking around the pool for years. Barely need to clean anywhere other than the steps it can’t get to. Occasionally need to clear something that is blocking the inlet and stopping it from moving. Have replaced the tyres a couple of times as they wear out but otherwise lives in the pool all year round.

  • Our works for a few hours and then stops, has this happened to anyone else.
