Do You Flash Your Headlights to Alert Other Divers about Camera Cars?

Just as the title says. Genuinely curious.

(All poll options are assuming it’s safe to do so, i.e. no police are watching to see if you do etc)

Yes, only if another driver alerts me beforehand.

Yes if I’m feeling nice. Regardless of if I’ve been alerted by other drivers beforehand.

No, it’s illegal and I don’t wanna get caught. I never have and never will.
  • 0
No, only because the oncoming driver didn’t alert me first.
  • 7

  • Lady night a lady was flashing her assets towards all the cars driving past her, now I understand why

  • Speed Cameras are meh … for the youngster - definitely not a real deterrent or learning lesson.
A better deterrent is flashing blue and red lights. I would encourage more speed cameras provided there are more marked patrol cars on the road as well. and I am suss when there are more cameras and less patrols.

On a motorbike tap the top of my helmet with my hand, that is the same meaning as flashing high beam.
Don't know thew can book you for that

In the car I use Waze

    • On the bike, I flash my high beam. Maybe your way is better though to avoid getting booked.

  • If you can do it without getting busted, sure.

We pay enough taxes on everything as it is without having to donate even more money to the government.

  • Used to do it all the time until I got stopped by a cop for doing it. Stopped since then

I used to do it. But now I am older I realise that

    a) I am potentially going to get a fine myself if caught (Parents got one).
    b) They are taking the risk of speeding and potentially endangering others so they can pay the fine if they do the crime.

  • While unrelated, I enjoy using my aftermarket spotlights to flash drivers running yellow lights at intersections, giving them the impression they are being captured by a camera. LOL

  • I just randomly flash my lights around the streets near my house to keep up an illusion that it is a hotspot of police cameras, thereby generally lowering traffic speed or heightening odometer awareness and keeping the streets a little safer.

Flashing your lights should primarily be about safety not about getting someone out of trouble, I'll also flash my lights when there are genuine hazards, I life in a winding and hilly area, heaps of tour de France wannabees. As much as I want them off the street, I'd rather not have them in a coffin. And yep, there have been quite a few deaths on the roads near my house this isnt me just being a prick.

  • always, but always make sure there's more trucks than cars. The police are not saving lives but sitting on side of the road taking photos, making someone slow down for 2 seconds to then just speed up again is pointless.

  • I just drive around using Waze Chuppito mod.

I still don't know how to flash my lights, half the time I hit the wipers. Everything in the car is auto, wipers and lights, so I keep on forgetting what side is which.
