Could Someone Please Help Me with a Phone Problem, I Cannot Make or Receive a Call

My father phone will not make or receive a phone call, he is with Kogan. It was working perfectly only a couple of days ago. If I place my father’s Kogan sim in my phone it works perfectly. If I place my sim in my father’s phone it works perfectly. But I cannot make or receive a phone call when I have my father’s Kogan sim in my father’s phone. I am completely lost and cannot understand what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    What phone do you and your father both have? Is it dual SIM? Helped a fried who couldn't send text messages, realised he had put the SIM in the wrong section.

    Vodafone has shut down 3G cell network, and your dad's phone is an older model that doesn't have VOLTE (voice over LTE).

    You may need to find the option to turn it on, or if you cannot do so, you need to upgrade his phone to a newer model.

    Try resetting the network settings on the phone

    again?

    A family member had the same thing due to 3G being turned off, and 4G not being enabled on their device

  • Reboot phone. If swapping sim card, also try rebooting phone. Also check airplane mode is not turned on. Or try resetting network as it will usually reconfigure to the default mobile provider's APN. Lastly, buy a new phone.

  • Port out to a Telco on the Optus network for the longest possible 3G connection.

    Thank you everybody who tried to help. I ended up doing a factory reset and it is working again, bit of a pain in the butt but at least I have it working again

  • I'm having the same issue, but with a different phone on Felix mobile. No luck so far and Felix hasn't been able to help either. My phone does have 4g and Volte capability, but the options to turn Volte on does not appear for some reason. Based on some readings, this seems to be related to some kind of whitelisting of devices by the network operator that defines which device is allowed to use their Volte and which is not.

    I'm considering getting a new phone just because of this. Wondering if anyone who uses Moto G54 and Felix or Vodafone, can confirm that it works?

  • My partner has the same problem with her Realme 7. We just bought her a 12 month Sim a week ago which is now next to useless. It looks like the options are to upgrade her phone; port away and waste the money just spent; or see if the TIO will support a refund?

    • The solution for anyone in the same boat was for Vodafone to replace the Sim with a new one. It's working now

      • I contacted Vodafone re same issue, they not suggesting a new sim, simply said upgrade your phone. How did you make them give you a new sim?

        • When they tried telling me to get a new phone in store I politely asked for a refund. I pointed out the 12 month Sim was only a week old and the phone worked fine with an Optus Sim. That's when the staff member offered to try a new Sim card.

          Maybe suggest that a new Sim worked.
