Best Wireless Camera Doorbell & Security Camera Brands?

Hi all,

After having a brief read on the forums, I can't seem to find much consensus on the best Wireless Security Ecosystem brands.

With so many different options, the analysis paralysis is starting to kick in and they're all looking the same to me.

What are the recommended brands for a wireless security camera ecosystem with Doorbell Camera & the potential to add individual security camera + spotlights?

I understand some selling points seem to be local storage, better customer service, etc.
I'm looking to find the most well rounded.

Ring seems to be pretty exiled based on it's cloud subscription plans.
Eufy had issues with local camera data being accessible through the web.

What else really is there that fit's the scope?

Anything would be helpful, thanks.

  • "Best" is subjective and depends what features are important to you personally.

Ring is the best setup for me personally. Someone else might want proper Reolink or similar kit to have more control over their setup. Depends what you want out of it.

I have used both Google and Ring and I found Ring best with the subscription. Just set it up and forget.

    • Why Ring
      And why not Google?

      • I finds Ring got better notifications and bit more responsive.

    • How's the quality compare

      • -1

No difference at all between the ring and eufy.

      Ever heard of privacy?

      • Eufy got called out about the exploit in their software and they fixed it. I agree that the exploit was pretty sever but they have come out and said that it was just an exploit and they’ve fixed it. But if your worried about privacy maybe pay the $10 a month for Ring then

      • You give up parts of your privacy everyday when you do things. Ozbargain would be harvesting your data too

        • So if someone uses OzBargain they deserve to have their cctv accessible by anyone is that what you are saying?

          • @deme: I’m saying it’s the world we live in now. It’s all in the t&c’s.

Based on the number of users across all social media, doubt many care strongly about privacy

            • @Dollar General:

So OzBargain will view me naked?

    • Sounds like my new service, EufyFans

I pay for the google nest sub with a seperate PoE CCTV system. It is good but I am open to jumping ship away from Google. They don't seem as innovative anymore, and their search engine is dogshit. Right?

    • You pay for Google nest and use non google cameras?

      • I have the Google doorbell with 4 non google PoE CCTV cameras.

    • +2

Another Google fan here, as someone who works in IT I can appreciate how seamless this system is. I have the sub with 1 doorbell, 4 cameras and love it. I never really have problems with any of the Google Home products, I think the key is to have a good WiFi setup.

      • Can't/won't be wiring up a PoE system as much as I would like to
      • No onsite storage or SD cards to worry about as everything is stored on Google servers (might be a neg for some)
      • No technical config needed, plug it in, connect to WiFi and it works
      • Easy for non IT people to use the system and config their own settings for alerts
      • Can call up camera's on Nest screens throughout the house
      • Doorbell auto shows on all screens when pressed
      • All my Nest screens/speakers act as doorbell speakers
      • Using 3 of the indoor cams outside, so long as they are under cover they are fine

My only negative is the price but I only buy them when on sale. I was also interested in the cost so worked it out a few days ago coincidently if that helps. All purchased over the past 18mths as things were on sale.
edit: no timestamps on footage, this is a big thing and I can't believe this still isn't fixed

      3x Cam Indoor
      1x Cam Battery
      1x Doorbell Battery
      3x Hub Gen2
      4x Mini Gen2
      1x Audio

      Paid approx $1100
      RRP approx $2200

  • Too many brands to choose from these days. I'd probably just go with Ring because it's the most famous. I use Wyze though, but it has some issues, sometimes it doesn't notify obvious cars and people.

Very happy with eufy one. High quality, no subscription, comes with face and package detection etc

  • Like others have said, Ring is set and forget. I've got a Ring Doorbell and separate CCTV. Ring is just easy and works well.

I would recommend getting the power adaptor for it though otherwise you could be forever charging the battery. I reckon with the power adaptor, I have charge the battery once every 6 months. It was more frequent when I didn't have the power adaptor.

  • Eufy for me. No subscription, easy to set up, effective.

When I’ve had a camera malfunction, Eufy support sends a replacement with little effort on my end.

I used to have a ring doorbell, and it was ok, but the monthly subscription annoyed me - Eufy suits me much better.

  • I'm happy with the ring gen2 I installed over the Christmas break. Had an existing doorbell with a compatible transformer and so the ring trickle charges off the existing wiring and will also ring the old mechanical bell.

I have subscribed but not sure it's worth the $5 per month.. will evaluate.

Haven't looked into eufy but am about to do so for a friend's home security.

  • I'm doing a search since almost one month and I was in between eufy and wyze
This post will make me buying eufy
Just woundering why eufy price on eufy official store on AliExpress is much cheaper than any other store.
    Any one tried from AliExpress?
