Bissell Spot Clean AutoMate Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner with 2.2m Hose $199 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Supercheap Auto

330

Looks to be a decent discount price for the Bissell Spot Clean AutoMate. This model seems to be exclusive to SCA, but looks to be the same at the standard purple Bissell SpotClean just with a longer hose. Was $249.99.

  • I brought the steam version one and it's amazing, life changer for spills on the couch etc

    • The HydroSteam? We bought it on Boxing Day but haven't used it yet. Got plenty of things that need a good clean with two young kids running around though.

    • Can that be used for mattresses as well?

  • I’m still waiting for mine from the Harvey Norman Boxing Day deal. They’re not even answering emails. Want to cancel but no way to do so.

If you've already tried getting through to them with no luck, I'd lodge a chargeback just so they get slugged with the chargeback processing fee for having such poor service.

They get hit with at least $15 (and potentially much more) for even having a chargeback initiated against them.

      • Our of curiosity, how do you initiate a charge back? What is the process?

        • +1

Bank/institution dependent - some you can click a button in an app against a transaction and include the details from there (e.g. up bank) and follow up with more details all within the app, others you need to fill out a pdf form and send it back, and provide more details over email if needed (e.g. ING)

          • @merivetio: Cheers

@merivetio: Others are fine to take all your details over the phone. Just successfully did a chargeback over a dodgy online provider sending goods nothing like what's advertised, they wouldn't refund or allow returns, so the bank sorted their shady butts out for me, gosh it felt good getting one back on them, especially after reading their TrustPilot scam reviews.
Hope it cost them decent fees.

    • I sent an email to cancel my Google TV and was refunded with no issue. Maybe different from store to store tho.

I guess maybe they try to honour the deal even tho it takes long. My sonos speakers were ready to collect after like 2 months. From memory, no email but call/sms. Just to make sure to have a solid note and not to forget.

    • I cancelled mine through online chat.

    • You should be chasing Mr Harvey to deliver the goods, not cancel !
Where are you going to find $99 special again.

  • Would this be a hassle to use on rugs? We want to start steam cleaning our rugs but most of the house is floorboard and tile so were looking for something small like this

the issue i found with these is that you clean one section, the dirty water gets pushed out and then it dirties another section. Rinse and repeat

      • Hmm, not in my experience. Maybe because I made sure I sucked up as much liquid I could before moving onto the next section.

    • You'll be emptying and refilling a lot, your back may hurt and wrists may cramp, but it does get the job done, with a lot of effort on your part. Speaking from experience :D

I did have one of these and found the noise, lack of suction and short hose was a problem. Seem like they have fixed the short hose issue in this model though.

Ended up selling it and replaced with a $50 Ozito shop vacuum and a pressure sprayer bottle for the soap solution. Way more powerful, have cleaned many cars and rugs so far.

    • Yes, this is true. Ozito is unwieldy though.

      • Yes, the setup and emptying is akin to a full size carpet extraction machine. Upside is you can get a whole car thoroughly cleaned without having to empty it part way though the job.

        • What do you use on your spray bottle?

I use hot water, tiny bit of dishwashing liquid and sodium bicarb.

@Naigrabzo: I use water extraction detergent that I got from a carpet cleaner years ago, don't know the brand because it is just in an old water bottle.

Dish soap works but the problem is if the carpet gets wet again it will re-activate the cleaning solution and absorb stains from things that come into contact with it. Water extraction detergent is designed to not do this.

            • @fullspend: thanks for the recommendation mate, went out and grab the kit, Bought this while i was there, they also have a carper cleaning variant.

              https://www.bunnings.com.au/britex-500ml-low-foaming-upholst…

As mentioned you don't want something that foams, because it will reactivate and may leave slipper residue

            • @fullspend: How is the 'water extraction detergent' any different from Coles cheap detergent?

Do you have any links I can read?

    • What kind of pressure spray bottle do you use?
Normally the carpet cleaner has containers for soap solution and return tank. How do you work with it? Just curious. I was thinking of buying Bissell carpet cleaner and what you are saying might be an alternative. Thanks

Can use a $2 500ml trigger bottle or something larger with a pump on the top.

Spray it on the carpet, agitate with a brush and then suck it up, follow with a clean water rinse spray and suck that up.

  • probably selling these cheap to compete with the Aldi ones coming out soon

    • Link?

    • These are on special every few months at SCA so probably just part of their usual cycle.

    • The Aldi ones came out on Saturday and were $149. You can check to see if your local store still has them in stock here- https://www.stockcheck.aldi.com.au/product/714082

  • Always want one of these but 2x the Harvey Norman deal seems to kill the deal plus it has been cheaper before from time to time. Under $150 to sound a good deal.

    • I did some reading this morning - the link you provided is to a red model. This one is the Black model. The base machine is the same but the attachments and warranty periods, are not. The black has 2 extra attachments and an additional year's warranty.

On the balance of it all, I decided to get one myself.

  • i bought one for $185 during SCA boxing day sale….still in the box…lol

  • Is this much better than the Kmart one for $99 ?

    • I checked and it seems like many of the Kmart stores are out of stock.

whats the difference between this and the VAX Platinum Spot Wash Spot Cleaner VACSC21E sold at Bunnings for like $169.

I checked specs and this ones got longer cable + 1 extra attachment thingy but the VACS21E at Bunnings etc is 400W vs 330W on this ?

Wouldnt the VACS21E be more powerful.

Anyone else want to weigh in ? thanks

    • They make slightly different ones for different shops with different model numbers to prevent price matching. Prolly the same.

Longer hose is a must though.
