  • Is the AU Plug foldable? can't tell from images of the GaN Charger

    • +3

It's not. Annoying as the US version is which makes it a tiny.

    • +1

No, it's not. I'll include in description.

    • It's not a huge deal, but foldable power prongs would really make these much more compact (and cooler).

I wonder if the angled AU prongs make it too difficult to add hinges, or if it's just that they don't want to put more effort into their products for the Australian market.

      • +1

Both. It could probably be done… but the market for these plugs is so small globally… similar to the LHD car market. Super annoying as I am constantly jealous of the foldable USA power adaptors. It's the only good thing about USA flat-prong power plugs though. Be thankful we have the plugs we do… that actually stay in the sockets when you plug them in.

If you don't have Prime / want the Black version / don't want to buy from Amazon: Anker Australia has a coupon code on the product page that brings it down to $28.00 with free shipping. Applies to both black and white version.

    • Thanks, grabbed one directly.

    • for info it is Not a GaN Charger

    • +1

Not a GaN charger so not even comparable

      • -3

        why not?

        • GaN chargers are typically smaller and more efficient for the same power output. In reality the Belkin you linked will achieve the same thing, just that its bulkier.

          • -1

@jammy2006: thanks - so they're smaller, lighter, and more efficient, else same charging rate/speed?

not sure why @Lutomes would consider them incomparable, especially if one would prefer to save $7/$9?

  • Very nice charger. For charging USB-C, I prefer this over the 323 that was posted earlier. Doesn't get as hot

    • This is GaN, 323 is not GaN. It makes a difference.
