My PS Plus subscription just ran out, is there anyway to get it cheaper for the year or do I just have to bite the bullet and get it at full price, looking to get the Extra tier.

Best way is to wait for the 25-30% off for non-subscribers offer. Sometimes it’s part of wider sale event, sometimes it’s targeted for your account specifically so check the PS Store while logged in regularly m.
There’s a State of Play tomorrow so chance something happens tomorrow.
Otherwise you can mess around with JB gift cards or the like if want it now now.

Discounts tend to align with events and they're saying a State of Play will be on tomorrow so at least wait until then to see if that's the case.
