50% off All Prescription Sunglasses + Postage ($0 with $125 Order) @ Dresden Vision

130
LOVE50

This gets, for example, a pair of polarised multifocal sunglasses with 1.6 lenses for $187.5. This is quite good if you have extras cover (very hard to get that kind of price at Specsavers or Optically).

If you don't have extras cover and don't need multifocals, cheaper options are available elsewhere (at Zenni etc). But a quick spot check of a few frames at Zenni shows that Dresden is slightly cheaper than Zenni for most multifocal options with this deal.

Discount applies to everything - frames, glasses, thinner lens, polarising etc etc.

T&C's:During the sale period same day service is not available, and some orders may take slightly longer than usual. Offer applies to new orders only, not applicable to existing orders. Apply promo code love50 at checkout. Offer applies to all prescription and non-prescription sunglasses only. Offer excludes contact lenses, clear prescription and non-prescription glasses and accessories. Discount is only available per person and can’t be split between multiple people. Discount can’t be used in conjunction with any other campaigns, promotions or discounts. Free shipping on online orders only, with a minimum spend of $125. Available in-store, online and over the phone. Offer ends 14th February, 2024.

  • zenni and similar are much cheaper if you know your prescription. all glasses basically made by the same parent company.

That isn't necessarily true for multifocals (hence why I posted the deal).

I just specced out the https://www.zennioptical.com/p/browline-eyeglass-frames/1954… as an example. Cost to get equivalent to Dresden (lens thickness, polarising etc) was $135.85 USD - that is about $20 AUD more than Dresden with this deal.

And Dresden is claimable, while Zenni isn't.

So Zenni would cost me $205. Dresden would effectively cost me nothing.

      • oh cool, thanks!

there is a heap of difference between different multifocal designs. Sure, a lot of them are similar, but there is a genuine difference between super cheap and more expensive options.

        • The word on the street is that Dresden are quite good. https://whrl.pl/RgeNy7

But yes, the multifocals likely aren't as good as ultra premium $600 lenses.

    • I cannot find their stores in Australia. I cannot imagine buying a pair of glasses/sunglasses without trying them on first. There are plenty of Dresden stores in Oz.

      • I have read your comment multiple times, and am struggling to understand it.

  • I bought the non prescription Dresden sunnies, which were great for $30 - however the frames are quite lightweight and have flash from the moulds etc - if I was wearing them all day every day I might feel differently.

  • Get Specsavers under $200 every year for full heath fund coverage.. NO issues

    • Are those multifocals?

Single vision glasses for $200 - sure, easy (you can get that easily from Optically or Dresden or Specsavers or Oscar Wylee or lots of places).
Specsavers, in particular, aren't bad as long as you want single vision glasses with no upgrades. As soon as you want thinner lens, multifocal etc etc the cost goes up very, very fast.

For multifocals - I've never seen Specsavers do reasonable multifocal sunglasses (Premium or Elite) with polarising for anywhere near $200 for a single pair.

  • Perfect - I was just looking into these yesterday for a backup pair!

As a side issue - I physically visited their store in the last two weeks and it was a very pleasant purchasing experience compared to Specsavers. In Specsavers I always open with "I want multifocals for free with my health fund" (I am 100% up front as to what I want) and they always say "sure, we can do that" and yet by the time I sit down lo and behold the price is always $100+ out of pocket (my health fund covers $265).

At Dresden there was no hard sell (in fact I had to ask for them) for lens upgrades. This was the price. Oh you have a discount coupon. Yep, we'll apply that. Yep, price was exactly as predicted.

    • agree with above as I have been a customer for four years.

Very good service and for my son’s multi focal with transitions and 1.6 index lenses, my out of pocket is $50 vs $350 with specsavers.

Specsavers will grumble to provide the prescription and don’t include the PD. Dresden includes it.

Only downside is only one model and we may look odd once everyone switches to Dresden.

They also offer replacement in case you are not happy with glasses.

      • For those who want the PD at specsavers, be aware that if you buy glasses from them the sheet of paper they'll have in front of them will have your PD written on it. Look down, memorise it. :)

But it is also very easy to measure at home for sure.

  • good price for prescription sunnies, shame they look like petrol station sunnies

    • They look worse than petrol station sunnies

Very limited frames and no rimless reading glasses.

    • +1

Yes, Dresden has exactly one frame style - you are just choosing colour and size.

I pay like $120 over the health fund cover for semi rimless, multifocal, transitions glasses.

    • Where

    • Can you give us more detail of where you get that and the price before claiming? Also a sense of your prescription (I am assuming you are long sighted if rimless at that price point)?

As a reference point, Dresden Vision does multifocal, black transitions, 1.6 lens (but no semi rimless) sunglasses for $200 with this deal (before claiming). $175 for 1.5 lenses. $225 for 1.67 lens. My health fund would cover all of those 100%.
