Sell Used Ink Cartridges?

What does everyone do with their old inkjet cartridges? I’ve got half a dozen used cartridges, it seems wasteful to throw them away. Can they be sold and/or reused?

Officeworks and any print shop will take them for recycling.

Some larger Woolworths have a bin for them too.

  • Are they completely used and depleted, or is there still ink left? If the latter, offer them for free on Facebook. If the former, officeworks as mentioned above.

Be warned that some printer manufacturers play silly buggers with ink cartridges.

Like locking them to the serial number of the printer they were first used in.

I ended up in this situation a while back with a HP printer. Had a problem. Support said just send the printer itself back, keep all the rest of the bits, and we'll send you another. Put your cartridges in it. So of course the second one didn't work. They did it again before someone told them that the cartridges wouldn't work in replacement printers once they'd been put in the original printer.

    • I used to only buy the HP cartridges, but I got some of the Calidad cartridges last week when they were on sale at Big W and they seem to be working ok. Much cheaper.

  • I can buy a full set for my printer on eBay for $16 delivered. Wouldn't be worth the time or energy involved to sell used.
