What Type of Gym Wear Do People Want These Days?

Hello, I'm interested in understanding current preferences in gym wear. I'd like to gather insights on the following:

Preferred materials for gym wear.
The balance between price and quality that consumers seek.
Willingness to invest more in high-quality gym wear versus a preference for more affordable, average-quality options.
Interest in visually appealing gym clothes, such as cooler graphic designs or more attractive logos, as opposed to traditional text-based designs.
Any information you can provide on these aspects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I hope everyone knows that this is not my main source of information or research, its just that getting information from real people is always valuable, and hearing stuff here that I might have never thought of, can be critical to my learning. Obviously i don't plan to go to work with one day's of planning and some ozbargainers opinion. Afterall everything im doing is my win or lost, if you do wish to help, please comment anything you might think is helpful

I'd like to buy some punctuation please Burgo.

    • Sorry Bro. I failed English in School, Scaling carried me

      • Run your posts through MS Word spell and grammar check. If you don't have MS Word, Open Office is free and will do the same.

Alright, I'll remember this for the future as well. Thanks I'll run it through grammarly

@toratiger: Grammarly is a good idea. You could also use ChatGPT to format, summarise, etc.

You should be aiming to learn this yourself especially if you're starting a business. Good communication goes a long way.

@ihfree: Thanks. Honestly now that i think about it, Its really something I need to do more. I think i've just gotten too used to the no punctuation texting, not being in school for 3 months lol.

      Punctuation makes sentences. Cheers

  • Id love gymwear that converted to actual clothing when people left the gym.

Aint no body want to be looking at you when shopping people…. 👀🙃

    • Noted. Thanks a lot

    • that depends on how long they've been going to the gym though
      .

      • Nope. They could be as buff af. Still dont want to see it.

People need to be classy and invest in some clothes

  • +2

Depends entirely if you're looking at male or female clothing, I'd say they're two completely different markets. Generally people want clothing that allows free movement and helps prevent the build up of sweat as much as it can.

Look around a gym and see what people are wearing. Some girls prefer a sports bra and tight shorts, other girls won't feel comfortable wearing so little. Some men prefer singlets and some won't feel comfortable wearing a singlet.

Considering you're going to be a nobody brand people probably won't want to pay more than what they can buy from a reputable brand where they know what the quality is like. I know I can buy Gymshark for cheaper than Nike or Adidas, but I also know it won't last as long as Nike or Adidas. I'm not going to buy your brand unless its cheaper than the other options or you get a cult following on social media and people start talking about how good and comfortable it is to wear. Long story short I wish you goodluck in you endeavours, but I don't think this is going to work for you.

    • got it thanks! I mean, im still 18 if I can make it work than great but if worst comes, it is what it is. We move on

That's what the last 100 said

        • Wdym? Then what should I do just give up on pursuing this?

          • @toratiger: echt comes to mind as a recent australian activewear success story. here's a couple of articles

            https://collectivehub.com/2018/04/3-business-lessons-from-th…
            https://rakutenadvertising.com/en-au/resources/case-study-ec…
            https://echt.com.au/pages/about-us

my personal experience is their products are OK. as EFC94 said above, a step down in quality compared to nike or adidas but acceptable for the discount offered.

feels like to succeed here you would have to be able to create compelling designs (ie looks good on attractive people on instagram) and market the hell out of the active lifestyle you're selling

            • @Gdsamp: Yes definitely, i've been researching past succesful ones including Echt and Muscle Nation etc Both products I believe are average quality but with the discounts, get a alot of sales due to the trust built on the brand. Both used good influencer marketing and built their brand via this way despite average products that anyone can make.

              Tysm!
              Really appreciate people like you

              • @toratiger: As a matter of fact, i think thats how every gymwear brand in Australia built themselves up, basically. Good advertising/marketing, and good looking models, attractive prices along with good customer service

@toratiger: If you have to ask this in a forum, your chances are slimmer than slim. Good luck. Please update in 2 years.

@Pcosmic: Will do. I mean if this lasts for two years, that'll be crazily good. lmao You'll know within a few months dw

I've noticed a lot of the ladies like crop tops with high waisted leggings from lorna jane.

Other ladies like those wedgie leggings that leave nothing to the imagination.

You can wear anything reasonable to the gym.

I wear shorts, runners and a singlet. Some other guys wear sweat pants, over-sized tshirts or jumpers.

The more experienced you are in the gym, you'll notice you'll stop caring what you wear. I've been wearing the same shorts and singlets for the past 4 years and I rotate it and wash it each week.

The regulars I see at the gym wear the same thing too and it's just normal everyday clothes like over-sized shirts etc…. nothing specific to the gym per-se. One guy wears his graphic tees and cargo shorts and he's buff AF

With branding, men usually go for Nike or Gym Shark and women I tend to see wear ECHT or Nike. No offence in advance to these women, but I noticed the women that tend to wear make up and/or do less in the gym and/or just go to the gym for social media tend to wear leggings so far up their behind and a sports bra or short shorts and a sports bra. On the other end, the women I see working out have crop top tees, fitted shorts or sweat pants.

When I first started at the gym, I purchased Adidas breathable singlets and I didn't like it so I went back to my normal cotton singlets.

Pretty much true for guys: https://www.tiktok.com/@eddiespitaletta/video/69959817264513…
    and
For women: I see alot of stage 3's https://www.tiktok.com/@silvyaraujo/video/722134216803880474…

In conclusion and IMO, just wear whatever is comfortable for you. Cause literally no one cares at the gym, everyone is so focused on themselves, if they care about you then either you're doing something crazy wrong or wearing something crazy not normal.
