Questions about Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Auto-Emptying Feature

The latest and greatest of the high-end robot vacuum cleaners all come with the docking station and auto-emptying to a bag.
So what happen if there is a precious loose item that you are sure are accidentally swallowed up by the robot? Is there a feature that prevent it to happen in the first place (eg those with camera detection)? I know that you can always cut the bag and open it up, but are there any model with a smarter feature?
Any other tips to avoid such things from happening?

Don't leave valuables lying around the ground?

Damn, guess I better stop leaving my loose diamonds and $100 notes around.

Seriously though, what valuables are you leaving on the floor to just get sucked up?

A robot vacuum won't just suck up a $10k watch or necklace, it'll likely jam the wheels or something and you'll notice a sound.

If you have a robot vacuum then your first step before you start it is to go around and check that the floor is clear of obstructions and it can make its way around, it's not magic.

This is the right answer. That includes looking out for cables or tissues on the ground which will obstruct and make the cleaning process inefficient.

  • Sorry I should have make it clearer, in my case valuables are like small parts of toys, like lego etc, or other really small parts that are less visible that could be on the floor without me knowing :(

  • My cat enjoys setting traps for my robot vacuum cleaner, leaving some of its small toys etc for it to jam on. But yes it has sucked up a few earing backs in its time so you may be out of luck.

  • I use a Roborock S7+ and you can use the dock bagless so I can occasionally see tiny bits of Lego in the clear casing. They have to be very small to get in there though, anything larger will just jam the vacuum roller. I get Nerf darts in it all the time 😑
