Help with Accor Plus Membership

Anyone have any way that I can get Accor Gold status quickly?
I have Accor Plus Silver membership and need about 2500 more points to become gold.
I thought I could transfer Qantas points to Accor points but it seems to not be the case.

Any tips or tricks?

Got any NAB rewards points? I believe they can be transferred to Accor points at a 6:1 ratio. Some other bank rewards cards may be able to as well.

Points are different to status points, earning or transferring points have no effect on status points - You can become gold with either 7000 status points or 30 nights. 2500 status points requires you to spend around $1,815 in Australia.

If you are close based on nights, you can sign up to Accor Plus for $399? This gives you a credit of 20 nights meaning if you have stayed 10 nights you will upgrade to gold.

    • This presumably wouldn't work as they already have Accor Plus Silver membership.

      • Oh missed that, it's a bit confusing then as they are saying they only need 2500 more points (out of 7000) to become gold. That means they would have needed to spend ~$3,300 already ($330 a night/10 nights) so they should be close to getting to gold based on nights, if not there already.

In any case I agree with the other comment Accor gold is pretty worthless and not worth spending any money on to achieve, Platinum is the only level I would chase for as you get lounge access/breakfast.

        • So we had a holiday last year that built up our status points. 9 nights, plus the 20 nights that were credited during the promo.
I stupidly thought I had 12 months to stay the extra night, but my nights were wiped on January 1.
So now I’m on 0 nights but approx 4500 points.
I want Gold tier as I was hoping to do a status match for a cruise that I am going on.

Sigh, it looks like I’m stuck on Silver at least until our next holiday, which won’t be in time for the cruise.

I just don’t understand why I can’t convert QFF points over to Accor, when you can do the opposite.

          Oh well.

@Mrs King: I sympathise. I also tricked myself thinking that I had the 12 months aligning with my Accor Plus membership dates to build up the 30 nights towards Gold. My promo 20 nights and other nights were also wiped on Jan 1.

What does the gold status do for you? Website just shows some meaningless benefits - room upgrade, late checkout, etc …

If you don't travel enough to get the higher tiers, you should look at booking with someone else's account who has the higher status … there's a few guys on ozbargain that do it as a semi-professional side hustle.

    • Interesting.
Doesn't this mean you would be checking in as that person?
What if they ask for ID or wonder why your credit card is in a different name?
I guess it wouldn't work with flights but might work with some hotel chains?

      • Yeah not sure how this can possibly work, I stay a lot at Accor properties in Australia and they all require ID for check in. I can see how it could work for domestic flights as they don't check ID there at all.

You can authorize someone else to check in.

People share rooms all the time for various reason - having an affair, cheap employer, booking for family member etc. Hotel guests can come and go as they please. It's not the hotels job to judge.

Hotels hand out loyalty status much easier than airlines too. You can normally purchase it for a few dollars and ask for status match from other loyalty programs.

I've booked on someone else's account plenty of times to get the free breakfast and lounge access plenty of times. Works fine for any hotel chain - Marriot, Hilton, Hyatt, Accor, etc

    • I'm interested to hear more - currently have platinum and would like to keep it! Love the upgrades and free breakfasts…

  • Thanks all. Was hoping to become Gold in order to receive a status match for a Cruise I am going on in a months time.

Doesn’t look like this will be possible.
