Got a Demo iPhone Delivered from Mobileciti

Hi everyone, not sure what to make of this. I ordered a “NEW IN BOX” refurbished A+ Grade iPhone 15 Pro Max from this deal.

Upon delivery I was pleasantly surprised to see that the phone was brand new and once I had opened the box, I saw the little packing slip that said “Demo iPhone”. Going through the setup there was demo software installed and I was prompted to either continue with the demo setup or reset as a customer phone, I chose the latter.

In the warranty it says that I have 1 year of hardware support from Apple but I have two questions. (I’ve done some Googling and have seen that Apple says that it’s the same but just to reset it to consumer software) I haven’t been able to reach apple due to the weekend.

1) Is this iPhone different from a consumer model?

2) Do I get 2 years of warranty from Apple like a normal brand new SKU iPhone?

TIA

This is the listing I bought off, as new open box. Not brand new.

Brand new is one thing, refurbished is another. Whivh is it?

    • Check the edit: as new open box

    Brand new referb. Lol.

    • Where did I imply that it was a brand new refurb? I said the phone I received was brand new. “Referb” lol

      • You said: "I ordered a “NEW IN BOX” refurbished A+ Grade iPhone 15 Pro Max"

I think you trying to say As New - Refurbished…

        • As new, new in box in my view is essentially the same thing. I never said “Brand new Referb”

          • @JoeBogan: The listing you linked to says its ‘refurb A+’ and says it is in excellent condition similar to brand new with no visible marks.

So looks to me that at no point did mobileciti claim to sell you a new phone. Get AppleCare on that thing asap if I were you.

Sounds like Mobileciti fulfilled their end of the deal.

    • How do you figure?

I ordered a “As New Open Box” phone and was sent a demo model phone with software that is meant to be for a demonstration model. Just trying to figure out if there would be any issues with this Demo model phone.

    1) Is this iPhone different from a consumer model?

    No, it's exactly the same.

    2) Do I get 2 years of warranty from Apple like a normal brand new SKU iPhone?

No, you get one year of warranty, as the page you bought it off says. If it breaks you can argue with them under ACL and maybe win, maybe lose, or maybe Apple will just fix it. Or you can just buy applecare with the money you saved.

You warranty should start from date of purchase. In the past, if a product was activated as a demo unit through Apple, you could update it by providing the invoice to an email, DOP Update or something.
