$5 Car Wash This Saturday at Participating Repco Stores - Guinness World Record Attempt!

180

Seems to be a fundraiser in conjunction with Girl Guides Australia, at participating stores in all states. Here's what the Repco site says:

Be part of Repco’s Guinness World Records attempt for the Most Cars Washed in a day. Simply purchase a Car Wash ticket for $5 from any participating Repco store, then turn up with your car on Saturday 27 October 2012 to become part of history!
Tickets on sale until Saturday 27 October 2012 at participating stores only.
Car wash ticket terms and conditions apply.

You might want to call your local store to check first.

Should have posted earlier. Now I have to rush in to get the ticket.

    • It says tickets available until 27th - presumably you could buy them on the day unless sold out prior.

So, there's a win for Repco… folks who don't want to miss out would likely visit a Repco store -before- the date of the event… some would even buy stuff (& why not?) while in-store.

I'd say: This may be Repco's response to SuperCheap's Club promo's.

and just when i did a full detail of my car (engine, wash, wax, polish, wheel scrub, the lot)

  • +3

Considering how incompetent the staff are at Repco I would not want any of them washing my car!

    • +2

The Girl Guides are washing the cars.

don't think they would do a good job as they try to rush beat world record…

        • +3

C'mon, it's for a fundraiser and only $5… All for a good cause.

And if you're like me and wash your car three times a year, it's certainly going to be cleaner than it was haha.

        • And then I spend 8 hours polishing out the swirls and scratches and reapplying wax. I'd rather donate $5 to a random passerby to get his washed.

          i agree… new car dont want scratches…

I heard that they are going to be in their Bikinis

        • -1

wouldn't get too excited. At 9 years, I think any bikini is going to slide right off.

Its a good opportunity to find out how effective child labor though, that is if you where thinking of opening a sneaker factory sometime soon.

  • in my Qld catalogue too

  • Is this based on first come first serve on the day or ticket number???
Whoever wash the car, I don't want to be the last as I imagine they will be exhausted for washing the car all day.

  • Do I get a Service Level Agreement when paying $5?

  • can i purchase the ticket at the time when i bring the car in?

  • "This ticket entitles you to a car wash at the participating Repco store named on this ticket. You must present this ticket to a Repco representative. So that we can attend to your car as quickly as possible, please arrive within the session time printed on your ticket. Whilst we will do our best to honour your ticket, the Car Wash may fall behind schedule or stopped due to unforeseen circumstances, such as poor weather. Whilst we commit to taking every care when washing your vehicle we are not liable for any perceived or real damage that may occur during the event."

It seems I gotta pre buy the ticket and then come back at the session time to have it washed, probably if I buy tomorrow, I guess I may be at the last session.

I'll probably stick to my own $4 record for washing my own car at the selfwash car washes.

But thumbs up for trying to be part of the Guinness Book of Records!

    • I suspect even with this system it'll get backed up massively and there'll still be a wait.
$4 method? Moneybags over here! I do the $2 method at the self car washes, $3 if I'm feeling posh and want to wax the car too

  • Yeah they will fall behind schedule after i roll up in my LWB Sprinter lol.

  • This is bound to end in tears…

  • im willing to bet $20 they wont win the Guinness

  • Well, they also get to use the fruits of their labor to fund activities, later… so, as long as they are careful washing cars, this is a win-win.

PS Some -similar- group(s) should do interior detailing, or waxing maybe for, say, $10 per car… ;-)

  • Did they make it?

This post mentions that "The total figure of cars washed at simultaneous Repco car washes Australia-wide was 6,499, beating the record previously held by Canada, of 4,344 cars."

    Well done girls!
