I am finally looking into buying a PS3 console now that the price has come down heaps.
What I am looking for is the older slim consoles… Not the new crap that looks like cheap plastic.
The 80 - 160 GB is preferable. Budget is approx $200 at max.

$200 — you might not even be able to find those new PS3 12GB at this price.
MobileCiti is selling the last gen 120GB for $258 at the moment (was $218 in a sale 2 weeks ago)
:( Sadly, I missed out on those deals. Especially missing the 320GB for $238 delivered deal!
The cheapest I can get a 320GB now is $306 (I honestly dont mind stretching my budget).
I contacted Adrian above and he says its a good deal. What do you think scotty? Should I wait it out till christmas?
I should put it here that the main reason for getting a PS3 is to use any new hacks that might arise due to the LV0 breach. Therefore I am trying to avoid the 'New' (Getting a bit Apple style there) Slim PS3.
I think it's definitely going to be cheaper when it gets closer to Christmas. Or, there should definitely be more PS3 deals — make sure you watch out :)
Another alternative is buying from Amazon UK or DE. I checked last night and 160G is about $260 AUD delivered from Amazon UK, but had been historically cheaper. Setup an alert on Camel x3 for price drops.

They're on special to vendors at $300 a pop until all their stock is out. Unless a dept. store has a sale who usually take a loss on their consoles, you're not going to find a brand new unit of the old slim for $200 max, at all.
