Price match with OW before they update the website.

    • OW has reduced their price now to $997

Waiting for the pro to hit sub $1000

Offer via google store has $220 of store credit and pouch with 128GB models for $979, If you are gonna buy a charger/case or are feeling like you can rock the pouch then it may end up being a better deal outside of giftcards/vouchers and other shenanigans to bring this lower.

To be clear, the upfront cost via Google isnt $979, you still have to pay $1199 for the phone, then after then $220 credit, you're overall price will reduce to $979 (assuming you can actually make use of the $220 credit in 12 months). Also if you're on a 2TB Google One plan, you'll likely get another 10% in credit on top, bringing the price down by another $119 (so about $860 all up).

That pouch is the most ridiculous thing. I got it with my P8 pre order… Felt like such a waste throwing a brand new "pouch" in the bin… But wtf google!

      • it looks like it can fit a passport. Would be useful for traveling if you can hide it and not scared of being pick pocketed

    • Also, worth noting that the credit isn't easily/readily transferable. The credit is tied to your google account. I was lucky enough to strike up a deal with someone on FB marketplace to buy them a $300 google watch band (for $200). Worked out well but not easy to sell, should you want to.

  • Does the Google Store price match JB-Hifi (approved list of retailers).
Or does the $220 Credit disregard that?

    • I think due to the 220 promotion they are likely to disregard but worth trying

Incorect, Promotions are confirmed to stack.

Reach out to Google Store live chat, ask them to match the P8 (they will send you an email follow up to reply to once the item ships, and then they will refund the difference)

You'll get the refund back to your original bonus, plus the $220 store credit (which ends tonight I think?), plus an additional 10% back as store credit if you have at least a Google One 2TB monthly subscription.

        • If the $220 store credit promo ends tonight, and you order it today, you're not going to get that credit. They only apply the credit to your account after it ships, and the earliest it will likely ship is tomorrow.

          • +1

@Trishool: Na, that wouldn't be how it works. You can confirm with live chat before you order, but credit would get locked in at the time of placing the order (as it says you'll get the credit at checkout)

EDIT Just checked, the bonus $220 Google Store credit ends tomorrow at 11:59pm

        • Many thanks.

Confirmed with Chat you get the credit with the price match.

          • @RabidWolve: Yup. Just did it all successfully here.

Process is easy. You order at full price, lodge a price match request then they confirm. After that, wait until shipped then reply to their email and they'll adjust price. Around the same time store credit will become available for accessories..

        • How do you find live chat??

          • @nuguns17: Literally googlw google store contact us or live chat

            • @Uncle Roger: Got it thanks. Played out as your wrote above. Now however I'm wondering whether the Pro will dip below 1k…

  • Love the phone but cracked screen is costing me $369, thanks dude on ice shoving me into traffic. Get yourself a case and a screen protector that goes all the way to the edge

Better priced than I paid for the replacement of the screen on my 7 Pro the other week. That set me back $450 and was given incorrect advice that once the screen was replaced, the fingerprint scanner was null and void for the remaining life of the phone.

That logic seemed off to me, a quick search around the web and I was able to discover that you can get your scanner working again.

30 mins later my phone is operational again. Moral of the story, don't necessary believe the "experts" who changed your screen on everything they tell you.

I cracked my 7 pro and ended up selling it for $450 rather than paying the extra $450, went back to the Pixel 2 XL now holding out until I find a sturdy phone

      • yeah friends are stunned at the price to replace screens on new phones, I'm just stunned at everyone walking around without a case on the ~$1000 of technology they're waving around

        • I had a case on mine, the way it landed caught a stone pavement, can't do much about that sadly.

I toyed with moving to the P8 Pro but $450 to repair, over $1200 for new, when the P7 Pro is less than a year old meant I couldn't justify it.

      • How? I just replaced my P7 screen and I don't even have the option within Android settings.

          @ReqelinOz

Look on YouTube for a video called How to do the Google Pixel Fingerprint calibration. It was by someone called FIXD I Repair.

The video references the Pixel 6 Pro but it works on the 7.

I do believe you need to have a genuine screen replacement though, I am sure there are some cheap options that don't have the scanner included. (I think the scanner is part of the screen).

          • @jollster101: Cheers cobba.

I'll double check with the bloke who did the screen replacement.

Camera is a bit dicky after the bike crash (which also smashed my screen) so the plan is to limp it through to when the P8's go on clearance in a few months. If I can get a P8 for $500 like my P7 I'd be stoked.

Just paid $700 on eBay for a used but like new condition p8, still a good deal I guess

How does this compare with the $130 Motorola from the other deal?

  • Thanks, price matched with Google Store, got the $220 credit, plus an extra 10% for a 1 month Google One 2TB sub for $312, and used this with a student discount for 10% off the Pixel Buds Pro, and $10 newsletter sign up discount off a case.
Total cost for the 3 was just the $999, and have over $100 credit remaining.

    • How much actually paid by you? They asked me to pay full amount and price match difference will be refunded later on maybe in credit form

      • +1

$1199, then once it shipped later in the day I responded to the ticket and they issued a partial refund of $200 to my method of payment a couple of hours later.

  • IMO pixel 8 still not worth this price. Should be around $699 then it’s good value
