Where to Buy Laptop Screwdrivers?

Just need the right sized screwdriver to unscrew 2 laptops…

Tried two computer shops but they only have expensive kits with many, many tools almost all of which I would never use….

Recommendations on where to get an appropriate sized quality screwdriver just to unscrew laptops please??

It's semi-urgent so physical shops are preferable….

Probably not horribly important but I'm in Melbourne.

  • Take your laptop to Bunnings and find the appropriate screwdriver you need if you don't want a larger multi-tip kit or quality iFixit kit. Not rocket science.

Alternatively, if you have Prime, this $15 kit delivers tomorrow: https://www.amazon.com.au/Hautton-Precision-Screwdriver-Stai…

You can usually check the manual for the laptop to confirm what type of screws it uses (could be Torx, Philips, something else).

    • A bunch of those xiaomi screwdriver set rip-offs available on Amazon with next day delivery it looks like too starting from around $15 and a whole bunch of different heads

      • Some of them have a plastic handle - I would be concerned about how durable they are long term. I picked one up and it was surprisingly ok for some very basic tasks.

I'd still find the original Xiaomi set for bigger or more difficult tasks.

        • I got the yesdex one iirc when it was on mega sale.
i dont think its a plastic handle.

only had to break it out a few times for some very fine electronic work where factories use the most ridiculous obscure/small screws.

If they are regular phillps-head screws then the local hardware/electronics shop should have what you need. If it's an apple device that uses proprietary screws then ebay.

If they are regular phillps-head screws

often not. I just replaced the battery for a MacBook Air and the battery included the screwdrivers I needed…

      • Nice. :)

      • Some of those included screwdrivers don't last long.

True, I had to finish the job with my Xiaomi Screwdriver so I wouldn't strip the screws.

I think it cost about $5 or so from memory.

    Melb Central has a store.

  • Jaycar have screwdriver sets for this type of thing.

  • Try the $2 shops for small jewelers screw driver set.

  • Go Trojan from bunnings, or Amazon

  • RIP your warranty

    • Depends. I don't buy laptops that have that policy (MSI comes to mind)
