    Seems to have held its value relatively well over the last 5 years. It's still a 1080p pixel shifting projector though - Not true 4K.

      Yeah was just watching a review and they mention it's not true 4k

      • +2

        I just cut and pasted their blurb.
        How are they even allowed to advertise eye-tricking technology as "true" 4K when it is not real 4K?
        Unless you research these products you'd have no idea what's really creating the 4K effect…..that is until your mate sitting next to you in the media room smirks and says "great projector an all, but did you know that it's not actually true 4K….."

          It's really just a technicality fought with words. It still projects true 4K resolution (not upscaling as such), but pixel shifting is argued to be of lesser quality than coming from a true native 4K chip. Native 4K projectors were much more expensive but would the average punter really notice? Unless you see some of these things side by side, you most likely won't. This is still a very good unit by all accounts. I was tempted by it when it first came out, .. seeing this price even though its an older type projector is still tempting TBH.

            @Denbo: Epson's TW9400/6050UB is a far better product ..2700 with 3 years warranty on epson's refurbished website

              @shaidas: Bought one of these refurb TW9400s about 3.5 years ago, and am still loving it. Same price back then too.

            • @shaidas: Epsons are truly not true 4k. This and all other 4k Epsons I’ve seen are only 2x 1080p pixel shift, whereas others are 4x shifting the 1080p panel.

              @shaidas: Thanks for sharing the refurb link. I've been looking into this model for a new theatre build and this is a decent savings with three year warranty.

              @shaidas: Wow, thank you. Yeah im going to pull the trigger on this in due course.

              Just holding out that they might leak specs of new model, but at this price with warranty = giddy up 🤯👍

  • Every single time a projector is posted here the bunch of specialists that never used a projector before and master in reading specs sheets come to post "theses are not 4k" and do not elaborate anything else.
