It's not the lowest but it is a good price if you can't wait.
The price dropped recently for 55 inch and 48 inch as well. The new model may be released next month so the price may drop furthur soon.

"if you can't wait". If you're waited this long, you can wait a little longer, it's about to be replaced by C4.

Also I'd like to see the 48" drop to a reasonable price, the lowest I think I've ever seen is about 1.6k or so, maybe you can get an ex-demo store one for about $1.5 which is still crazy price. Hopefully they're willing to drop it low enough since Samsung will be competing in those sizes this year with the S90D.

You can't wait is like you got a monitor/tv just died…
That happened to me so I bought another 32 inch 4k monitor so I can wait for a better deal.

IMHO, 48" is not an ideal size for PC monitor or home TV…

      • Yeah I get that, but hopefully the further price drop is right around the corner, according to previous years anyway.

Yeah 48" might be a bit too big for PC monitor, since it's not an ultrawide. For me it just so happens to be the max size it'll fit in my current space for it, either way, 42" or 48" I'd be down for either one.

        • Screen density 42 inch is better so I would like to have 42 inch + 24 inch portrait instead of big 48 inch one. My previous 40 inch one died.

          • @jamkingzzz: yeah I'm probably going for the 42" as well, as I'll have to flexibility to use as a TV or move it to the desk and try it out as a monitor as well.

oh shutup. i'm glad i didn't listen to such nonsense and i've had my C3 48" for a year. Put it on the wall and any objection you have bout it being too big for your stupid desk goes away. Fools everywhere.

Is the C4 expected to have any major improvements?
      goes off to Google briefly
As expected, there are minimal improvements with the C4, a slight processor upgrade and a 144hz refresh rate instead of the previous 120hz.
Though, these models (the 42 and 48") are priced at a premium(due to the process of cutting the glass) and IMO only stand out for users who want to use the TV as a PC desk monitor, so with that in mind the extra 24hz might be worth it for some individuals. Still, you'll be paying 2.5k for it and it won't have a META 2.0 panel.

The C4s release is listed as "a potential launch in March or April".

      • +1

Yeah no major improvements that I'm aware of, not until they're willing to put META/MLA into the mix.

Only looking forward to the price drop that happens as a result of C4 release. Last year price drop was around start of March.

        • I don't know if the prices will drop too much more, I imagine last year the pricing would have dropped more when the product came out as it was around the time they introduced EVO into the line-up? I could be off by a year though.

@Beyond: will have to see! I don't think I can check that far back into 2022, but it dropped to around just under $1K at the lowest point last year.

            • +1

@Tbargain12: Just under 1k sounds like a pretty decent price. The problem with knowing the price from the last product release is that you let go of deals close to and above the marker. Like, if a deal came up for $1,200 and we said "I'm gonna hold out for the extra $200", and then the deals start going away. (Makes me think of the Pixel 8 Pro)

          • @Beyond: I will pull the trigger around 1200 ish …never know what could be the lowest price.

            • @jamkingzzz: That seems reasonable.

            • @jamkingzzz: Agreed, need a new large 4k monitor for work but ~$1500 is still too high to consider given how low they got last year.

            • @jamkingzzz: Yep I'll be happy around 1200 ish

            • +2

@jamkingzzz: You should play the LG spin and win on their website. It comes up 2 or 3 times a year. Can get up to 50% off codes. So when they have their models on special, you can get an amazing price if you win a decent discount voucher. I got 40% off last year.

    • If I just wrote my first line and didn't carry on, I would have responded to your message while you were trying to edit it. Lol

I wouldnt go ExDemo for an OLED product. Not sure how long they would have run it at full brightness.

      • Yep, I wouldn't either.

    • Hey, out of curiousity where would one find ExDemo units for sale? Google hasnt been much help.

      • There might be some local stores around you (smaller stores), otherwise you can pop into your local JB/GoodGuys and ask if they are selling any of the ex demo, I wouldn't do it since the price is not much better, and they likely be running it for quite a long time degrading the panel, but yeah unless you can get it for a super good discount.

900 take it or leave it

    • +1

you can take your $900. Even second hand c2 you wont get any at gumtree.

      I dind't negged you btw.

      • +1

the c2 42 were as low as $995+delivery, I wouldn’t say 900 is too ridiculous.

        • Aren't prices of everything going up rather than down?

  • Upcoming G4 specs https://www.techradar.com/televisions/lg-g4-review looking forward to reviews especially brightness paired with Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode.

  • I'm probably just gonna go for one of the new gaming oleds coming out this year instead at this price
